These are some brave turkeys.

I was driving from Toledo to Dayton, OH on I-75 last week when I had to take a wiz. I pulled over at a rest stop, and when I was walking up to the restroom building I saw some very large birds, then it hit me, those are turkeys. I was able to snap a couple of pictures with my camera phone. I thought this was pretty strange, I've seen turkeys in the woods but I've never gotten very close to them. I actually got within two feet of one of them and he was worked into a corner between the building and trash can. I thought about grabbing one and having my buddy snap a picture of me holding it but there were some people around and with my luck one them would have belonged to PETA, my dad said that it would have messed me up if I tried to grab it anyway.

Also if you try to pick one up have lots of bandaids on hand those
wing feathers are like razor blades.

My guess is with all of the snow cover they are looking to score a meal or two.

I am fortunate as to my place of work is in a large section of woods. I see turkey everyday in flocks and yes, they are wild. They come to the big glass windows and stare at themselves all day long until someone walks close to them. It is quite comical and unbelieveable the time they spend in front of the glass admiring themselves if left alone.

My buddy and I were out scouting for turkey's once and driving by this farmstead and saw some out in the field. We stopped and the walked towards us, kept walking, and one of them JUMPED ON THE HOOD OF THE TRUCK! He wouldn't get off either. We had to start driving again. Would of been a different story if we were huntin' them though.

Yep, with that snow on the ground it also drives the turkeies down to the lower elevations in which they do here also, for some reason they know where the city limits is around here too. ;) Bobby
