Carbon's to Alluminum's for bear
 

I've noticed on many post's that guy's have gone from Carbon's to alluminum's for bear hunting .I'd just like to know if it's for preference or if there's some real good reason for it .

I will be shooting carbons for the first time this year at bears, but from what I've seen there is no reason to switch either way. Each will do fine on large black bears. My pro shop owner has told me that his wife has been shooting bears with carbons for sometime now and gets complete pass thrus each time. You can't penetrate any better than that. He also indicated she is shooting a low poundage compound. Something in the low 50s range I believe.

I had always been told that your "whitetail setup" is more than adequate for black bears. Can't help ya. I dont see any reason to use one over the other.

The bears I have shot went down easier than the majority of whitetails I've shot.

If you hit them in the lungs, the arrow won't matter. If you hit the shoulder/leg bone on entry...neither will get the job done.
