Considering Parker Bow...Any input?
 

I am new to the site, I've been bowhunting 15 years. I recently purchaced 2 new bows for my 2 sons. Money was tight so I tried to get by cheap and purchaced 2 of PSE's "BEAST" bows and rigging about 2 weeks ago. One of these has shot very well (cam timing slipped after about 200 shots but my pro shop made it right) and is still grouping well. The other one (31.5 draw length @ 72 lbs.) is not preforming as well. My son has completely lost confidence in the bow and I am planning to take it back and upgrade for him.

More to the point, for about $200 more I am considering one of the new "Parker" single cam bows (not sure of the model, prefer 37 or 38in. axle to axle for forgiveness) but haven't heard much about them. I shoot a mathews q2xl and love it but too much money. Is the Parker a solid investment at $400? Please hurry, I need to move fast!!

My friend and I both made the move over to Parker this year. He bought a Ultra Lite 35 and I bought a 2001 demo Hunter Mag 2. Mine is slightly longer than his and is slightly heavier, but honestly, mine is more efficient in terms of pounds pulled and speed produced. We are shooting identical arrows and heads. One thing we can say for Parker's customer service, they have been great in answering questions for us. Bottom line is this, I'm sold on the Parkers and I'd buy another one. Shoots great! Good Luck!

Thanks Danny, I shot one of the models at the bowshop the other day and was pretty impressed. It seemed to have a little more vibration than I'm used to in the grip (compared to my mathews), but dollar for dollar it looks pretty good to me...It's priced pretty close to the mathews FX but I'm afraid of that 34in ATA...

I'll let you guys know how it turns out! By the way, this site looks to have some pretty knowlegable bowhunters tuned in!!

I think the Parker lineup is solid in terms of both performance and craftsmanship. I recently bought and sold a Parker UL31. I enjoyed shooting it immensely and the only fault I could probably find with it is that it was just a tad too light for me. I never had to contact customer service but from what I have heard it is pretty good.

fletch; I shoot the Parker UL31 and have been very satisfied with the bow and their products.I have yet to have to use the customer service for any kind of repairs or work. I have used the local parker dealer for info ,knowledge and facts pertaining to my bow and to order parker items through and have been very thankful to find such a honest and knowledgable dealer since the last dealer was such a putz. I chose my Parker over the Renegade,Bowtech,Mathews,lines etc.I consider that I got a great bow for the price. I found that with my UL31 limb savers and a doinker stabilizer helped to significally reduce the hand shock and I use the string leeches for the string

I have been shooting the Parker UL31 for several months now and I am very pleased with the quality of the bow. I have no regrets about buying this bow!!!!

Hi Fletch, here is my semi-bad report. I shoot the Parker Feather Mag II and had a limb break on me. I can't say that it couldn't happen to any bow. But I don't abuse mine and I shoot heavy arrows. So, I don't believe that it should have broke. This was the first bow that I owned that did this. On the bright side, Parker replaced both limbs for me free within about 10 days, shipping days included. I opnly had to pay for shipping it there. I can't really complain I guess, but it leaves a bad taste.

I just got home from a visit to the bow shop and I'm having a new Feather-MaxII rigged out. I don't think it will be quite as fast as the PSE dual cam but at 37in, 7 7/8in brace height, single cam, and an IBO of 298 it should be easy to shoot, accurate, and fast enough...

The longer I'm around this sport the more I believe that speed is only one part of the equation. Having confidence that your bow will "shoot where you aim it" is even more important....

Danny, PA, Lady Forge, Parker1, and BobCo, thanks for your replies. You have given me a little confidence that I've made a good purchace. I'm fortunate to have a pro shop here in my home town so if any limb problems do develope I can get fixed up pretty quick.

chech out the darton bows their are some real nice bows in that 300 buck range the {storm} comes to mind might buy one my self for a back up bow

fleth, actually when I had the problem, I called the company and they insisted that I send the bow back to them. Which was fine by me. Personally, I trust them more then I do my local shop. It is a great shooting bow, don't get me wrong. I think you'll be happy with it.
