Default First one!

Let me start by saying I don't post much because I'm still in the learning phase but you on this board had a lot to do with my first bow harvest. I read your posts daily and have learned more from this board than any book or video.

I shot my first deer last evening with a bow. I set up on a travel area coming into a few apple trees at 6:45 a 7 point buck in velvet walks right down the trail and under my stand. I bend at the waist let loose and whammo!!! Pass through in the top out the bottom 1 lung. I watched him run off and lay down. He got up one more time and moved into some thick pines where I heard him crash down and die.

Like I said you guys were a great help and I appreciate all your insight. Well I have one more tag to fill before the rifle season so I'm off.

Jim that's really great. And you have made a great accomplishment in my eyes. I have hunted the Northern Woods of Maine near Allagash in 1999 and 2000 for a week each, going after those 300 lb brutes up there. But as I'm sure you know it is not an easy thing to do, especially with a bow. Locals around there think your nutts to walk around the woods with a bow. We even had trouble coming across the border into Fort Kent because the guard never had anyone come across to bow hunt. He kept instisting that the season hadn't started yet (rifle). But as always the trip is always worth it, the land is incredible.

Jim, Congratulations on your first whitetail with a bow, one I'm sure won't be your last. Lots of season left so good luck on filling your remaining tag.

AND thanks for the kind words about everyone. I've always said this is a great place to learn, share and exchange information of the one thing that brings us all together and that's our passion for bowhunting. I honestly feel we've got the best members of any board on the web today and although many share other sites and forums, none compare when everyone comes together here.

Congrats Jim!

Looking for my first this year as well.

You are right about the board and how much it can help!

Way to go!

BTW - Are you going to mount your "First" in velvet?
