Parker Bows

What is your opinion on Parker bows i am new to bow hunting and am left handed so options are somewhat limited
I am looking at the Parker hunter-mag outfitter at $450 or the Buck hunter outfitter at $ 310 they both come with sights, 4 carbon arrows, quiver, fiber optic sights, and angled peep sights the buck hunter has prong style arrow rests and the hunter-mag has a whisker buiscuit
what are your opinions on these bows and which of the two would do you think is a better bow for the money

I had the exact same Hunter Mag you're talking about. Comes with a biscuit, sights, peep, string silencers, quiver, and 4 super carbon arrows. I bought mine from Gander Mountain. I had it for a year and loved every minute with it. I even went bowhunting for the first time with it and harvested a big doe. I added Limb Savers to the inside of the limbs to quiet it down even more. I put a doinker stabilizer on it also. Over all, I enjoyed it. I happened to shoot a Mathews Switchback and well nuff said the rest is history. I bought it on the spot and the trusty Parker paid for half of it. Good bow to get into archery and bowhunting. I highly recomend it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Parker makes a good solid dependable bow that won't break the bank. Their customer service is second to none. The hunter mag is definetly one of the better "entry level" bows and many seasoned archers shoot it as well.

Basically it is a good, solid, no frills performer that will bring home the deer steaks.

Here we go again bigbulls.

Lefty, what bigbulls said. Parker is maybe the best company I've dealt with for customer service. And Lifetime warranty on their bows. Quality, too.

The two bows are, in my opinion a little high, but only about $10 or so. Let's just say my Gander store is $10 less. Anyway, I consider the Buckhunter the entry level outfit. The Hunter Mag is definitely a big step up, and honestly, the better value of the two. Quite a bit faster, too It's the kind of bow that you may never need to upgrade, or at least not for a decade. Just a good bow. And their accessories are not what I call junk. Not the best but decent quality. Mostly machined aluminum in the rest and sight. You want something to comapre it with go look at some entry level PSE, Browning or Bear outfits. Plastic junk out the kazoo.

So yeh, Parker ain't a bad way to go.

I just tested a Parker just this last weekend, for the price and accuracy and performance Parker makes an exceptianal and forgiving and consistently accurate bow,,well worth the savings your given, Parker performed just as well as any other top of the lines bows.

..I'm definatley considering a Parker

Lefty;
Dont let the fact that you are left handed leed you to believe that your options are limited.
There are plenty of Bow Manufacturers out there produceing their bows for the left handed archer.
The Parker Hunter Mag would be an excellent choice in my opinion;)I also agree that the Hunter Mag would make a best choice entry level bow over the Buck Hunter IMO.The kind of bow you can hold onto and shoot for many, many years.
The Hunter Mag offers a 37' ATA, with a 7" brace height , with AMO 230fps , IBO 302 fps... you may also want to take a look at the Extreme Hunter Mag Outfitter Package it ony cost about $59.00 more its a little shorter ATA 35"but offers a 7.5 brace height with a IBO speed of 307fps.
I had a older disabled gentlemen friend shooting the Extreme Hunter Mag last year in his 1st or 2nd year of shooting and he is hitting 3 inch spots at 50 yards........... :D I did get to shoot this bow a few times recently and it was a nice bow to shoot .So it is evident that this bow can hit the mark.
Parker makes a dependable, well constructed, accurate bow with a lifetime warrenty and a customer service department that stands second to none.!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had one and broke two sets of limbs on it within 2 years. Customer service is good though if that's what you are looking for. But, I'd rather the limbs not break in the first place.

I love my Parker. I have a UL 31, but my cousin shoots the model you are talking about and he loves it. The new Outfitter packages are great! My next bow will be a Parker as well.

RE: Parker Bows

I showed my neighbor the bows i was looking at & he said that they appear to not have adjustable draw lengths so if i grow i will have to sell it right away for a bigger bow
Is this right or do they adjust in draw length

bigbulls 02-24-2005 04:12 PM

RE: Parker Bows

Yes they are adjustable. They have a 1/2 inch post adjustment and are adjustable with a change of module in one inch incraments.

There are only a few bows that are not adjustable. But even then you only have to get a different cam. Not a new bow. Mathews, Hoyts with spiral cams, and the older AR bows are the only three I know of that have draw length specific cams.

Lefty,

The parker bows are excellent bows in my opinion. I am getting a new bow myself as soon as my tax money gets in. I have owner a Hoyt Magna-Tec and then a Supertec and I loved them both.

This year I looked at the new Hoyts and shot the Xtec, I have shot the Switchback and the Parker Phoniex 36. I must give the Switchback its props as it is a awsome bow but...... for the Difference in price I am going with the Parker probably a Phoniex 34. Iyt has awsome speed and is dead quiet as well. It is a super close toss up between the two but I will let my wallet buy this time!!!

To answer your question you can buy different modules to go on the cams as your draw length changes. Around here a new module goes for around $10 or $12 dollars... very little extra output down the road for a great bow from a great company

I really loved testing that Parker Hunter Mag and with the package deal you get you really can't go wrong,,that bow has a fair amount of solid wall, it's draw was smooth and seemed very accurate for the price, i also liked the quiver design, i thought that was kinda cool. i'll probably get mine out of Cabelas since i have a gift certificate coming to me.

Some of the Parker dealers around here will just give you the module if you bought the bow from them. No charge at all. Often they even have them on hand from swapping out with someone else. I have yet to find a Parker that wasn't worth the dollars it cost. Have shot the Phoenixs 32.34,36, Hunter Mag and Hunter Mag extreme, Buck hunter and ultra lite. they are all nice bows and in general will give you a good bang for your buck.
