What your dream bow hunt?

I live eat, and dream about elk hunting with my bow, each fall my dreams do come true. But if I could choose a once in a lifetime dream bow hunt it would be for Alaskan Kodiac Brown Bears, a African planes game bow safari would be a close second. But I admit if I was to hunt Africa I would also want to hunt the Big 5, and that would require a rifle, so that is why the Alaskan Brown Bear is my first choice with a bow. What is your dream bow hunt?

At this point in my life my dream hunt would be accompanying my dad on a hunt in Alaska or Canada for Caribou or Brown Bear along with a little Salmon fishing on the side. This has always been one of my father's dreams, and since I've got many many years to hunt ahead of me, this is one I'd like to see come true soon.

Mine is an elk hunt with horses WAY back into the wilderness away from others
and lots of trophy bugling elk. Man, what a dream hunt that would be! :D:D:D

Elk is definately my dream hunt. I would also love to bowhunt whitetails where there is a better population of deer that are in the record book size. I hope in 2006 to do one of these.

I'm thinking a bear hunt would be one of my dream hunt's to go on ,and Terry M and I are working on that right now ,so i think this fall that dream will be fulfilled .
But I would also like to do a Ram hunt or an elk hunt someday ,but I'll have to wait for a while before I fulfill these one's .

Spot and Stalk BIG Mulies....Medicine Hat or Canmore areas in Alberta. I'd like to do this because this is the only creature that seems to be on the downward spiral with no explanations.

I'm with dsheally on this one. Horseback hunting of elk. Horses mostly because I don't want to have to do all the hiking. :D Shooting a bugling elk in an aspen stand.

I've been to Alaska, twice, and saw brown bear but I was fishing and not hunting. I lived there for nine months and even had residency but never got to hunt. Dumb on my part but I was broke.

A pack in horseback hunt for bull elk. A close second would be an Alaskan Bull moose ( 60"+). I have moose here and have taken a few but a truly large one with a bow would be awsome

Probably Carribou. You can see tons of animals and harvest 2. Plus catch the heck out of some fish if in the right area.

To go to the artic and spot and stalk one of those big white bears. The challenge would be worth taking, of course with a gun for a back-up.

I'll just say that the elk hunt on horse back is one I have been dreaming about for ages. Possibly this fall in Idaho.

Growing up in Idaho and horsebacking into very remote country was awesome in my teens and still is today for elk, but I would rather bowhunt whitetail bucks north of the border as I did in 2002. I fell in love with that country up near Edmonton Alberta and look forward to hunting there again with my canadian friends this fall and shed hunting in Saskatchewan in March. It's such a change from the intermountain whitetails I hunt here in the panhandle.

New Mexico elk.

The only thing I could think of that I would possibly enjoy more than hunting elk in the rut would be hunting stag in the rut in New Zeland.

But American elk, I think, would still be my top choice just for the awesome bugling and shows that they can put on.

I don't know all that much about them but I would absolutely love to hunt trophy Ibex and Marco Polo sheep. These two animals are absolutely bueatiful.

Same as Parker1. I also lost my father to cancer, and would love to spend another day afield with him.

My dream bowhunt would be to hunt whitetails in Kansas, Iowa or Illnois. I know alot of you are probably reading this and thinking I am nuts because that could be done anytime but those are the places I would like to go. And absolutely nothing gets my heart pumping like the whitetail deer. If I had to pick something else it would be a bear hunt.

It would be moose. I been putting in for the past 5 yrs and I am now starting to accumulate some bonus points so this just might be the year I get drawn. While bowhunting last year I stalked to within 17 yrds of a bull and pulled back at full draw and imagine releasing. I also encountered a cow that I could of shot also. I want a swamp donkey in the worse way. It will just make me appreciate it when I get one that much more. Hope you alls dream hunt comes true. ;) Bobby

RE: What your dream bow hunt?

micdundee, I don't think you are nuts at all, that's why I asked for your dream bow hunt. Its your desire and there is nothig wrong with that, or with someone else wanting to come west to hunt elk, or go to Alaska for moose or bear. I have desire to someday to hunt huge mulie bucks, and kill a 30" with my bow. In Idaho 20 years ago that dream could have come true, but in todays Idaho a 30" buck is very very rare and becoming extinct. Even for rifle hunters a 30" buck is the ultimate goal, and even then you are just lucky to get to see a buck like that in a lifetime, let alone shoot him. If you went back 20 30 years ago or more and told people that in 30 plus years that a 30" buck would be very rare. I think they would have laughed at you. I guess what I am trying to say is dream about it, and if possible go do it while the dream can still come true. Heck in 20 years down the road it might not be possiable to live out the dreams for all sorts or reasons. Its kind of neat to see what everyones dream is, sorry for carrying on thanks, Jason.

I think a barren ground grizzley would be the cat's ass. It's a matter of putting you arrow where it counts or be eaten. The thoughts of elk at 10,000' up on a mountain gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. I think they'd be a close second.

RE: What your dream bow hunt?

I plan on going on guided hunts once a year starting in 2008.

In order of desire.

Would love to get a HUGE buck in saskatchewan.............pushing 300lbs and looking more like a bear then a deer [:o]

Elk........for sure. To sit in the early morning mist and hear big bulls bugling has to send chills down your spine.

Caribou.........know a couple guys that have gone and had nothing but great reports.

Bear........never been........want to see what the fuss is about.

When that is all done maybe I will just start over at the top or try something different. Right now that would be my grand slam.

datamax 02-23-2005 01:44 PM

RE: What your dream bow hunt?

An Alaskan slam of some kind ......... moose, grizzly, caribou, black bear and of course, sheep. A 6 week bowhunt 1 on 1 with a guide that could do it all. THAT would be totally awesome.

RE: What your dream bow hunt?

First choice, moose with my bow.
Second choice, caribou with my bow.

Moose is my first choice & I do not care where I draw the tag. Alaska would be great but unless I win the lottery I will not be hunting in alaska? Montana moose tags are tough to draw but the hunt is WAY cheaper.
Caribou would be my second choice but my wife's first choice. We might hunt caribou together in 2006 or 2007? I am trying like heck to make this happen.
