Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
Well I've been saying all along the whisker biscuit is the only way to go. I just put a Muzzy Zero Effect on my Switchback and man is it nice. I had to do a little fine tuning (hitting my thumb area mostly) but now that's it's tuned, I'm kinda liking it. I have nothing bad to say about the biscuit other than it's hard on my vanes on my arrows after awhile. I put mole skin on the Muzzy hook and on the shelf of the bow to eliminate any unwanted noise. Any of you have the Zero Effect? Tell me what you think.

RE: Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
If you haven't done so you can take a pair of side cutters and clip about 3/4" off the hook. It doesn't need it all. Other than that it sounds like you got it figured out OK. Now it's shootin time.

My buddy nubo, are there any tricks or tips you can give me about this rest? Don't know how much tinkering you can do with it I guess. Right now it seems to shoot flawlessly.

RE: Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
Sure ! I noticed you said that it was hitting your thumb, first make sure you have the arm bolt through the first hole ,the one furthest from the turn buckle screw and that should help and the other is to get rid of the over draw plate so there's no vibration's. Be sure to cover the shelf and the hook with mole skin as well .Be sure not to tighten the bolt from the arm, the arm need's to drop's freely ,just be sure it's not too tight .Other than that this rest is very easy to setup and I'm sure you'll really like it .

Nubo:
I think he has a Switchback with the roller guard. The advice you gave would therefore not apply. One way to keep the 'pain' down would be to chamfer the inside edge of the main arm where it would contact your thumb. Other than that, maybe a slightly different grip might be in order.;) |
RE: Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
I have a Zero Effect on every Mathews that I own. It's the best rest I have ever used!

RE: Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
I do have it on the Switchback and I got her all tuned so it doesn't hit my hand or thumb anymore. Now it's time to shoot and see how it does. I already covered the hook and shelf with mole skin so I can now say "here big buck big buck big buck" and make a smooth stealthy draw. Any other tips anyone huh anyone?

RE: Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
I have used the Muzzy rest since they came out many years ago. I have had them on my last 3 Mathews bows including my Switchabck now. I feel they are a great rest, and have never had any problems. A couple of tips I have learned over the years using them. I put 2 mini limb savers on the flat arm that moves up and down. One on each end. They take out any vibration and really make the rest dead silent. Also I always put a NAP arrow holder on my shelf, and it works great.

RE: Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
I guess I kind of have a love/hate thing going with the Muzzy ZE.
I have had one on a MQ1 for about 2 years and I love it.....I put it on, tuned and have not touched it since. I just bought a Switchback and .....well lets just say if anyone needs a very slightly used Muzzy ZE I have one for sale. It hits the nuckle on my thumb and I talked with the people at Muzzy and they told me to move my nock point up and to make sure that the bottom of my arrow was even with the top of the berger button hole. I tried this and it was better but I refuse to mistune my bow or to change my grip to accomadate a arrow rest. I have shot for 25 years and its too late in the game to change my grip now. I know some of you guys have a ZE on your roller guard bows and love them.........I sure wish it would have worked on mine. If anyone has any suggestion please let me know before I find a new home for it! |
RE: Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
Well its sold and gone now but I would still like to hear if anyone else had the same problem that I had.

RE: Switched to a Muzzy Zero Effect......
I have one on my bowtech and absolutely love it. On the other hand my dad put one on his hoyt and had the same issue with it hitting his hand so he took it off. I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to tune it to stop it from hitting. Eventually I told him his hands are just too fat.:D
