Got Pics of deer, but no rubs (stand placement?)
I set my camera along a trail and put some snacks out. Got some great pics of nice bucks (all but one in the dark). However, scouting the area revealed no rubs, though I know they have been rubbing other nearby areas.
Am I foolish to set up in the same area as my camera since there are no rubs or does it matter. If I did not get soooo many pictures of various bucks, it would be easier, but I do have some great photos right in front of a nice climbing tree. Thoughts? |

Look at the times the deer are present. If they are not there during legal shooting hours why sit there? If however they are there during legal shooting hours sit..

excellent point. unfortunately, my time stamp was turned off and i don't know when they arrived, but it is dark in almost all pics, which is my concern. Since i am not near rubs, by the time they get to me, it is late.

I have a camera and have had similar situations... If the pics are in the dark no need to sit in that particular spot, but try to tell where they are coming from and find a tree closer to the bedding area and hopes that they are getting up durning legal shooting hours... More then likely they are and could be ambushed at a point closer to the bedding area... Be sure not to get to close and push them out of the county... doesn't take much these days...
Good Luck... |
