? early rubs??
Went scouting on 9/8 and found 5 nice rubs. Do these rubs have any meaning in the early season?? Are they just done at random.
Thanks eddie |
RE: ? early rubs??
yeaterday i found a single rub(just the beginning) when i was tending my scrape line. i think you should watch them and make a later determination in a week or so.

RE: ? early rubs??
they are the indication that you have a good buck in your area.they make rubs when they rub the velvet off and try to stop the itching.they also mark there area.
I am not a hunter I am a whitetail population reduction specialest remember keep your back to the sun, your knife sharp, and your powder dry. |
RE: ? early rubs??
Rubs mark a bucks territory. A buck won't rub a tree in an area he doesn't live in. If you find a lot of rubs, then you know a buck is in the area. If you find a rub line, it's showing a travel route for a buck. Where I hunt I found a rub line of about ten rubs. From one rub you can see another tree with a rub. I followed this last season and found myself standing in what looked like a bed. Tree climber touched on the good buck deal. Large antlered bucks rub big trees, but small ones will rub small trees. Large bucks will rub small trees also, but small ones won't rub large trees. So if it's a fat tree and it has a rub on it, count on it being a larger deer. God bless, Brandan |

RE: ? early rubs??
The 4 rubs were all within 10 yards of each other. The largest tree was about 4 inches the smallest was .5 inch. This is the first year i have found rubs on my property other than a hedge row between two fields. These ones were along a small creek.
