who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
hey, when you arder this tool it looks like you fletch one vane at a time??Is this correct? Also was wondering if you can adjust the degree of offset or move it to helical. Can i do the adjustments with the one tool or do I need to order extra adapters?? thanks for your input..;)

RE: who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
Only one at a time. I do believe all of the adjustments are on there. But they do sell other clamps for the right left helicals of the straight fletch. There is little dials on the side were you turn them for your offset. It is a great fletcher.

elk, They do one at a time. The jigs are adjustable for helical and if you purchase another clamp, you can do rights, left and straight on the same jig. Not the fastest, but very accurate and reliable.

RE: who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
I have had my bitzenburger for over 30 yrs and yes you can only do one feather/vane at a time. They are completely versatile (sp) in how much of a degree you may want but you have to specify left or right helical as mine is a left and is not campable of putting a right helical on. I have gotten my monies worth out of mine is is a very good choice. Bobby

How much do they cost? My old martin fletcher is showing its age and its been used a lot by friends, family and myself. I have heard of the bitz before but never paid much attition to it. Where could I go (on the web) to find out more info about it?

RE: who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
O.k..so what your saying is I can order the tool and one single fletching clamp, and make adjustments on the tool to get what ofset I want..when I order I just need to specify right or left????

RE: who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
elkcraz, that is correct.
Idaho, I'm not real smart on the computer or I would paste it to you but go to, "bitzenburger arrow jig" and then go to their home page and all there imfo will come up. They are kinda pricey now, but well worth it, Bass Pro and Cabelas also has them. I usually end up stripping my fletchings off at least a couple times a year any way and also I don't like the quality of mass produced arrows. I'm just perticular. Or is that pecuular? ;) Bobby >>>>>>>>>>----------------PROUD MEMBER OF THE ELITE 8---------------> |

Mine's over 30 years old, too. Got all the clamps. And the cost is now about $60-$65 for a jig with one clamp. Don't be afraid to look for a used one.

RE: who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
Just bought one yesterday for $69.00. I have the right helical and it is adjustable. You do one vane or feather at a time. Can't wait to start using it.

RE: who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
The Bitzenburger is the best jig I have ever used!

RE: who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
Just did my first arrow using vanes. Once you have the jig set it is easy as pie. One hint, do not use a lot of glue, the magnet will hold it tight and press out the excess.
Trying feathers now. I will even try splicing different colors ( that is why I bought this jig ). |

Before I bought mine, I requested some info just as you have. I remember one quote in particular from a fellow board member: "It's the cadillac of fletching jigs." He was absolutely right.

the bitz is the best.

RE: who uses bitzenburger fletching tool
O.k..so what your saying is I can order the tool and one single fletching clamp, and make adjustments on the tool to get what ofset I want..when I order I just need to specify right or left???? Here's everything you need to know about the Blitz. The jig is the same now and does not change with the different clamps. It has all the necessary adjustments built right into it. You will need to adjust it so that you will get 100% contact from the vane with the shaft. There are two adjustments, one for the front of the clamp and one for the rear of the clamp. These adjustments will change depending on the outside diameter of the shaft you are fletching. Once you start playing with it you will notice that there will be a "sweet spot" in the adjustments for a particular diameter shaft. The jig is also adjustable at the nock receiver to fletch either 3 fletch 120 degrees, 4 fletch 75X105 degrees, or 4 fletch 90 degrees. Simply unscrew one set screw and tighten another one. The clamps are different from each other. They come in left helical, right helical or straight. The helical clamps are curved on the bottom so that they will apply a fletch around the diameter of the shaft and get 100% contact. You can not apply a straight fletch with a helical clamp. If you try it will only make contact with the ends of the fletching. The straight clamp is exactly that. It will apply a fletch up to about 4 or 5 degrees of offset. Once you go past 4 or 5 degrees the curving of the shaft becomes to great to get good vane contact. You must use a helical clamp because the vane will not make contact with the shaft near the ends of the fletch. I hope this isn't too confusing. It is actually pretty simple. I just didn't want you to get a helical clamp if you want to do a straight offset fletch job or a straight clamp if you want helical fletched arrows. The jig will come with what ever clamp you choose. You do not have to buy them seaperately the first time. Only of you want extra clamps. |
