helical vs nock alignment
When putting nocks on arrows, should the nock be aligned with respect to the leading edge of the cock feather, or the trailing edge? Or should it be set right in the middle of the helix? I shoot both off the shelf with a recurve and thru a whisker biscuit with compound. I shoot feathers mostly(5"), but also have some helical vanes. The feathers have a pretty good twist (helix) on them, so it does matter.

Keener: When you're shooting thru the biscuit it shouldn't matter where the nock is set because you don't have to worry abut fletching clearence. As far as shooting off of the shelf my guess would be to line the nock up so that the fletchings rest flat on the riser of the bow.

RE: helical vs nock alignment
When shooting thru the biscuit I keep the nock aligned so that one vane points straight up. The bottom of the biscuit is flat and has a little less clearance than the top which is more rounded. I have been told that sometimes this can cause your fletch to contact.
