I do and will never again use the brass crimp on things. Takes about 2 minutes, you can adjust them and they never wear out.

What Bob said. It's a very simple installation and done correctly will last indefinitely. And you can adjust them up and down the serving like a nut on a bolt---and they don't move on their own. There is also the added feature that you'll gain some speed. I've chrono'd the results on my bow and found that a brass nockset robs my bow of 4fps. So if you're one of those guys that has a double above the arrow and one below you've just cheated yourself out of 12fps.

And bookmark that Bowsite thing. There are a lot more good articles under the Practical Bowhunter heading.

Tie on nocks are all that I use. I also use the same not if I tie in silencers or peeps.

You can also adjust them on the string without redoing the whole things. Just twist them.

I started using serving material for a nock about a year ago. I was a little apprehensive at first as I thought it would slip relatively easily. I was wrong and now rarely use a standard brass nockset.

How do I get the brass nocks off? I dont have the fancy shmancy pliers to take them off with, and I really dont have the money to buy any either.

I shoot a release loop and still tie a nock point above the loop to make sure it does not move. Tied on nocking points rule.

Dairy,

In the past I have taken them off with a flat screw driver and a pair of pliers. I used the screw driver to carefully spread the nock then the pliers to get it off. You must take it easy though or you will cut your serving. Or, you could just go to a local pro shop and they will probably take it off at no charge.

I also tie my own and it's been years since I removed a brass nock the "Primitive Pete" way.

That is the only way to go, after you shoot with a tie on nock you'll never go back!

Try using a small screw dirver to pry it open. Slide it off the serving to the string, squeeze the string with your fingers and pull it off.
