RE: Best mechanical broadhead?
The rocket steelheads are the way to go if your going to shoot machanical...I would shoot fixed blade if it were me..If your only shooting mechanical heads to match your field points, they are meking fixed heads that will match your field points as well..To me that is a moot point!!!!! If your bow is properly tuned then your fixed blades should be really close to your field points anyway..Its something to think about.Look in to it..Do the critters a favor.

I have beat this horse to death, but I have used the Grim Reapors for 2 seasons and think they are great. I like the fact there are no o-rings or rubber bands. I know other brands offer this as well, but I don't think you can go wrong w/ the GR's. Regardless of what you use, keep them sharp and they will work well.

RE: Best mechanical broadhead?
Just curious as to what you mean by this. I've hunted with both mechanical and fixed blade heads and killed game with both. Unfortunately, I've also lost game with both. When that has happened it's always been user error and not equipment failure. I think a lot of people try to blame their mistakes on their equipment and many times mechanicals take some blame. I don't know if this is what you are implying, but if it is I have to disagree with you. Any ethical shot to the vitals with any sharp broadhead will bring down your quary. Some people try to get lazy with tuning and then find a scapegoat when they lose game on a poor shot. If you were implying to do the critters a favor and make sure the bow is fully tuned then I agree 110% and apologize for the rant, but if your saying mechanicals are inferior to fixed blades I'll have to respectfully disagree. |

I'll throw in two favorites over the last four years. Both in 100 grain i will take Spitfires or Grim Reapers.
The Spits definitely win on accuracy. The Grim's win on angled pentrating power and shear grotesque exit wounds. I have not shot the grim past 15 yards though. They just seem to be off a bit. |
