what is a good price for a good deer mount? how long before you get your head back?

A quality mount will cost around 500.00(shoulder mount) and could take up to a year.

My guy charges 415.00 for a standard shoulder mount, with a with a wait of about 6-8months.

The best guys around my house charge $375, it should take around 6 months

Huntnbuddy you may want to check the taxidermy boards, I think there are a few taxidermists over there.

Dang, those prices are expensive. The guy down here does a deer mount for $235. He does quality work. He has won over 30 awards for his work. I guess he just does it because he loves it.

:D thanks for the input, I pick up my shoulder mount in the morning. cost me 325.00 and this guy has won alot awards and praise form alot of hunters in illonios. 3 month turn around time.

The three I looked at around my house were 495 with a turn around of 2-3 months, 415 with a turn around of 6-8, and 400 with a turn around of 4-6. I went with the 400 and got it back in february.

Up here in MA you will spend anywhere from $350 and up. The best guy around gets close to $500 and has close to a 2 year wait. Unbelieveable work though.

Expect to pay $500, for a standard shoulder, from the best award winning taxidermists in this area of west central IL. There are a LOT of $250 taxidermists but you get what you pay for. Remeber that once that deer is mounted YOU have to look at him for the rest of your life!

There's a guy around here that does quality work and charges $175.00. He just lives out in the country and doesn't advertise. He mostly does all the locals work for them and not much else and gets it back to you in a month or two.

I just got my 2003 buck back. $395.00 14 months! It takes time to tan those capes. Too fast and they will start to shed a few years down the road! You have the rest of your life to look at that mount it's worth the extra time and money to get the best job possible!

My last 3 have been skull mounts, so they were cheap...... I the last full mount I did was many years ago and I think we paid around $300
