Is a string loop necessary?
My daughter has just switched from fingers to a mechanical wrist release (Patriot Junior release). However, she doesn't want to use a string loop, and rather is shooting off the string with the jaws of the release below the nock of the arrow, and with a brass string nock located above the arrow nock. What is everyone's opinion on this arrangement? Does is really matter if she doesn't use a loop? Will no loop damage the string? Thanks for your input.

A loop is not necessarily necessary (no pun intended) for many setups. It does help for some folks and some setups in improving accuracy and forgiveness but not all. With your daughter's current setup I would suggest installing a rubber eliminator button on the bowstring. This is then positioned between the arrow nock and release to avoid some of the nock pinch found in such a setup.

I prefer to shoot off the string as well, to add to what PABowhntr said.
Add an extra 2 rubber eliminator buttons to the string. Save you the hassle of having to take the string off her bow later if one gets ripped off, or lets her use 2 if pinching is ever an issue.
Just watch her serving and when it shows wear, replace the serving and her string will be none the worse for wear.

I am sure it's a non-issue. I am assuming your daughter has a relatively short draw length so the string isn't getting put in a harsh angle, so you shouldn't have any problems at all. Good luck!
