question for you elk hunters...
 

I've always hunted with 125 gr heads...I would like to get a little more speed out of my arrow. I'm shooting about 250fps with 125's.Anyway wondered how you felt about hunting elk with 100gr head..I know I will lose somr KE but wonder if the extra speed will make up for it..My arrows are goldtip 5575's

25 grains will make such a small differance in KE, speed and trajectory it would be almost pointless to do so. You would only gain about 8 fps.

Now if you are more accurate and get better arrow flight with a 100 grain head then by all means do so. But to do it just for the small gain in speed then I wouldn't worry about it at all.

I have used 100 gr muzzy's on elk with no problem.

BUt like bugbulls said, the minute amount you are going to gain really isn't worth changing for the sake of changing.
