buying a bow off of ebay
hey guys and gals,
i was just browsing the ebay site and came across several brand name bows, some with accessories included, for very low prices. do any of you recommend purchasing from ebay. i am extremely new to bow hunting (never even shot before). I'm just looking for something to shoot a little bit on weekends. I know i'd have to get someone to set it up correctly for me but just for purposes of the prices i came accross, would any of you recommend this? Thanks every day gone is a day closer to God...and deer season <>< Edited by - scrapehunter on 09/06/2002 15:34:47 |
RE: buying a bow off of ebay
Not the best way for a beginner to start. Things like correct draw length and draw weight are critical. Brace height, axel to axel length and weight can also be important. These will be hard to compare without shooting the bow.
At least for your first bow or two, you'd be better off going to a pro shop where you could be properly fitted and you can try a few. Since you're new to the sport and may not stick with it, you may want to keep your investment down by going with a lower to middle of the line bow or a used one. Good luck! |

straightarrow is correct,,,, unless you know your sizes you need a pro,, especially if you are 6'4' w/ a giant reach like myself!!! good luck

If it looks like a good deal, the price will shoot up in the last 30 minutes of the auction!

I did it but I knew my draw length and the model I wanted. Paid half the shop price then let the shop set it up and sell me all the accessories. Bow was brand new in box and came with six carbon arrows. I wouldn't buy a used bow as they can have limb delamination from heat etc and won't be set up to fit you right.

I just bought one of the Merlin Shadows off ebay. It's the right draw and weight for me. For $115. to my door how can I lose?

RE: buying a bow off of ebay
As said above , get measured for your draw length first so you know what to look for. Draw alot of different bows so you know the poundage your comfortable with and letoff.
Once you determine all of the above , buying off ebay can save you lots of $$$ , just make sure to research the seller before you bid. ![]() "Nocked, cocked & ready to rock" |
