I was wondering if using a peep sight with rubber tubing is worth having your peep always aligned, right now I use a basic tri slot peep I am not interested in spending forty dollars for the no peep and I shoot better with a peep sight rather than with out one.thanks

I have had luck with the ones that divide the string into thirds, without tubing....I don't like the tubing myself

my bow came with the tubing kind it works good i was considerng a new peep with the magnifier in it

I use a two strand one but use a string loop to align. Works for me!

I use silicone tubing instead of plain old rubber. It seems to last longer and weather doesn't rot it in the long run.

Using tubing will slow your bow down something like 15 fps, I believe. I use a huge peep that seperate the string into three parts, and it aligns perfectly all the time. And I dont like the idea that theres a rubber band pointed right at my eye when Im at full draw.

15 years ago I went with a peep. It worked but looking back it sucked. That extra piece is adding another component to a component ridden device that can fail. When I say fail I mean it can fail and you not know it. Just snag it on a branch walking through the woods. Don't damage it enough to show while your settling in you stand. Pull back and aim as the big boy is broadside at 15 yrds and hear twang. You get my point.

A kisser is just as effective without the extras hanging off. I use a red dot scope and love it but it does cost a little. I would never go back to the peep set up.

My vote is to go without the tubing. Just get someone who knows what they are doign to install the peep and if your string has already been "broken in" it should line up perfectly from then on.

I dont' like slowing my arrow down unnecessarily, and plus, that tubing can add some noise. In addition, like others have said it's just another device that has a chance to fail at the wrong time.

If you've got an aftermarket pre stretched string you can get away from the rubber tubing but the last thing I think any of us wants is to draw back at the moment of truth and loose a shot at a wall hanger because the peep has rotated. IMO if you have a stock string then the tubing is the safest bet.

If you gotta have something to align the peep, go to a crafts place and get some "beading cord." It is elastic "string." It is lighter, won't make any noise and will outlast rubber tubing because it doesn't dry rot like the rubber. You'll have to drill a small hole in the shaft of the peep's "tube holder" to tie it through, but I promise it will work much better than the rubber tube.

I used a rubber for years and didn't realize how much better it was without one until I switched to a fletcher peep. For a long time I wouldn't try one because I was worried that it wouldn't line up. I've used the fletcher for 3 years now and have never had a problem.

Been There, Done That! Get A Good Quality Pre Stretched String Like Winners Choice. You Will Not Have To Worry About Peep Alignment And You Can Forget About The Tubing.

Have had terrible luck with served-in peeps that are supposed to turn "every time."

I don't know whether it's the soaking/drying/freezing/unfreezing of the string or what, but I use professional grade strings, and still cannot get one to turn reliably. The 3-strand jobs are ok, so long as you don't mind having a string crossing through your field of view in the peep.

I've run the gammut with peeps - always go back to the basics. I use rubber tube, change it annually, and carry 2 feet of extra tubing in my pack.

The drawback is that you have to be a little more careful that it doesn't get snagged on something, but if you see the way I abuse equipment, you'd understand that it is a pretty rugged setup.

That stuff's okay for the target people, but I am strictly a hunter and demand a consistent performance.

If you use a string loop (lots of target guys do) it will eliminate the need for tubing.

I have had the tubing snap and come back and hit me below the left eye. Let me tell you that smarts. If I had not had glasses on tit would have gotten me in the eye also. Is there a perfect set up w/o the tube ? How about the Hind Sight ????
