Is there a difference?????
It seems that quite a few people on this board don't like the thought of hunting over a food plot or bait pile. My question is is there a difference in hunting over a food plot or bait pile and setting your treestand in the middle of a big oak flat full of acorns?

RE: Is there a difference?????
I am not against hunting over bait. The difference is that a food plot generally takes up much more space than a bait pile. The animals may be concentrated over a larger area verses a small bait area. Depends on how large of an area I guess. There is also the questions being brought up about whether baiting is helping the spread dease (sp?) in deer but that is a whole different topic. Do what you want and good luck as long as it is legal. I hunt over a food plot every year it just happens to be a 100 acre corn field.:)

gutshot if it is legal I have no qualms with it. I have never hunted over bait, but then again it is not legal in Va. I am not sure I would, but to be honest if the deer population in Va. keeps booming it would not surprise me to see it legalized.

If it's legal fine. It's just not for me. I'm a bow-only hunter and the thrill is getting one in their backyard.
But to answer the question, I don't think there is any difference. Edited by - jetblast on 09/05/2002 13:30:29 |
RE: Is there a difference?????
Here in Pa it is not legal to hunt over bait. I personally would not like to hunt that way. As far as acorns in the woods thats alot of area to cover unlike a pile of bait.

RE: Is there a difference?????
I would say it's like hunting near a man made scrape, rather than a natural scrape! There is a difference, but both are sportsman like!
