Which would you shoot.........
 

Going from buckeye's post about the 2 ohio record bucks, if given a choice which would shoot? Also, to keep it fair, lets assume both bucks hold the world record. IMO, there is no contest, I would choose the Jerman buck. Non-typicals have never impressed me, especially the world record class, where they are really just a blob of horns and IMO not even in the same category as a huge typical.

So........what would you if both bucks were under your tree, and you could only shoot one.........

With a split second decision I would probably have shoot the non typical Beatty buck. But that isn't for certian though. I bet that Jerman buck looked like and absolute hog in the woods. It's a toss up really!

I have to agree. I would shoot the non typical if it gave me a shot, don't get me wrong but I prefer lage typicals or non typicals that resemble typicals with a drop tine or two.

IMO the lovstein buck is ugly. I'd shoot it and be happy but it wouldn't be my first pick.

There's no competetion between the 2 for me. I would shoot the typical everyday. If the two were running together it would never even cross my mind to shoot the non-typical. I probably would shoot him if I couldn't get a shot at the typical. But I am like you, the non-typical "blobs" don't impress me.

I would shoot the big typical because to me a huge typical is more impressive than a huge non-typical, but dont get me wrong i would take either one on my wall.

Oh and I would shoot both, with one arrow!!!! Honestly I can not pick because they are both awesome.

If I had to choose one...I'd go for the absolutely crazy looking non typical.

I would be happy with either. If I had my choice I think I would take the junk buck. How often do you see a junk buck that has that much junk. Dont get me wrong, the typical is nice too but I think you see more big typicals than you see big non typical of this caliber. I think if your a trohy hunter, than every collection needs a huge junk buck. Just to keep the collection well rounded.

The typical buck no question! Although more typicals probably abound, finding a world class typical is harder than a non-typical in my opinion.

The typical I have 2 non-typicals now that are not mounted . Just down right ugly.

I love big typicals.
There is something majestic about them.

It has to do with the fact that such a deer represents one of the best manifestations of what a Whitetail buck can be, given ideal genetics and environment. They are an example of how a whitetail should look.

Old, big typical deer are what I dream of shooting.

With that said, I'll shoot the first one that comes in range at the beginning of the season to put meat in the freezer, and I'd shoot a non-typical anytime except if it meant passing on a big typical.

If it came right down to it and they were standing side by side? I would try to set my sights on that beautiful typical. (But only if they were both standing within range side by side) But no matter which buck in my dreams That i was to get;)? There would be no complants from me.

Alright Fellas, Sorry but the first one to give me a clean kill would take an arrow.. the same with all of you.. not trying to start anything i'm just giving an honest opinion(sp). I just think everyone would shoot the first one to get into bow range.. No one is going to pass up that buck to "hopefully" get a shot at the typical. Everyone agree?

Okay I've read them all before me and I think all you typical shooters are NUTZ!!!! What's more common a typical or a non-typical. I would probably have to say the typicals. I would shoot that HUGE BAG A BONES JUNK BUCK ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Don't get me wrong, I'd shoot the typ if he was alone. But, side by side, under my tree.....hmmmm. No brainer. What's the chances of seeing the FREAK or any others like him again? Slim and none.

The question was which one would you rather shoot. No one said they wouldn't shoot one of the bucks however, some people, myself included, would far and away rather shoot the typical. So no I can't agree with you. If the typical and the non were running together and the non was broadside but the typical liked two steps from stepping out, I honestly believe I wouldn't even be paying attention to the non because they just don't impress me. But again that depends on the non. If it's a basically typical rack with some drops and some junk then that's a whole new ball game. But if it's a conglomoration like Beatty's deer...[:'(]



I think anyone that would rather shoot that ugly conglomoration of crap than the big beautiful typical is nutz. I don't know what the non typical scores and I don't care because IMO it's not even in the same league with the typical. It's just an ugly freak of nature. The typical is beautiful and majestic. The non-typical looks like it grew up to close to a nuclear power plant:([:'(][&:]

I was actually thinking about woldens deer when I made that exception. I like the looks of wolfens deer. It's has a lot of typical characteristics will some non-typical stuff added on. I think that's a much prettier look than the ball of anltler with some points sticking off.
