Am I the only 6ft guy that.........

Has a 27 inch draw length? Most guys I see on this board seem to be in the 29 inch range. I shot a 29 inch draw for years, actually up until about 3 years ago. I started playing around with different draw lengths and found that I actually shoot better with a 27 inch draw. Also, it keeps the string in front of my face, instead of coming over to the side. The down side is to get a good spine, most of my arrows are fairly light, around the 400 gr mark. It also kills the hope of getting good speed, if that is your thing.

I am 5 10 and draw 29". My friend draws 27.5 and when i try to anchor his bow, it doesn't feel right to have my release in front of my lips.

I am 6'3" and my draw length is 30". I dont think I could get comfortable with it in front either.

I am 6'3" and have a 31" draw, but I like to shoot, a draw of 30" with a string loop. If anyone asked what my draw is I always just 30"

I'm 5'8 1/2" and I'm shooting with a 28" draw and I think it's just a tad short soon I';ll get a set of 28.5" mod's and see if that help's.

I'm 6' and shoot 29". Shot 30 for a long time before I actually checked and got fitted right. I shoot a bent elbow and a loop.

27 inch wow thats short for a 6 ft guy as long as its comfortable iam 6 ft and some change i have a 29.5 inch draw but i shoot 29 inch.. i played around with differnt draw lengths from 28 - 30 and the most consistincy was 29 inch.. there are alot of bow hunters that shoot way to long of a draw length...

6' 4" w/ a 29 inch draw string loop, release and good bend in the straight arm. I guess it could depend on your shooting mechanics to shorten of lenghten your draw. I do the bent arm to keep from having to worry about coatsleeve and forearm hits when releasing.

6Ft 1.5" and I shoot a 29" with a loop.

I'm 5'10" and shoot 29.5" draw. I dropped it a half inch from the last bow I had. It feels a bit better losing only a half inch. I tried with it a little shorter even at the shop, it that felt real bad.

6'0" and I use a 29.5" draw and I've also been accused of long arms. I tried 29" but it will not work.

I'm 6'2" and currently shoot a 31" draw on my Darton, I also have very long arms, 38 inch sleeve length.

I'm 6'4",and I've been shooting at 30in.for years.I've always had to shoot with a big bend in my elbow, plus,I had to "cock" my head a little.I know this sounds wierd, but thats the way I shot.
Len(in Maryland) is helping me out.He feels that I'm really a 31.5 draw,so he's going to set up an Old Glory for me...Bob

I am 6'1" I shot for years with a 30" draw without a string loop. My local pro work with me last spring. He set up my new bow with a 29" draw and a string loop. I shoot more consistant groups with the shorter draw.

I'm 6'3" and shoot a 28" draw length. I shoot bare fingers though and anchor at the corner of my nose and feel more comfortable slightly leaning forward into my shot rather than all stretched back.

i'm 6' and draw 28" but would probably be more comfortable with 27". but i've been overdrawing so long i'm used to it.

I'm 6'4" or so and new to bowhunting, but the archery pro that I use set my bow at 30" draw plus a string loop.

RE: Am I the only 6ft guy that.........

At just under 6 feet I have been measured by three places now at 29 and using a loop. I actually shot a 27 today, just so I can feel how the new Defender works and there is just no way I could get used to shooting something that short. Also shot a 30 Old Glory and I felt like I had to reach back to the back wall of the lane to hit the stop. Just wanted to feel hand shock and stuff like that, you can only shoot what they have at the shop, suppossed to be getting more in later this week I think. I still might try a 28.5 one of these days just to see, but the 29's typically touch the corner of my mouth about perfectly sooo...

RE: Am I the only 6ft guy that.........

6'4" and shooting a 30 inch draw with no string loop. I still put a little bend in my elbow so I don't hit my forearm or sleeve when hunting or practicing. I shot a 29" draw all last year and had a pretty good bend in the elbow. It feels better to be out more this year vs. bringing the bow closer to my face. I guess I couldn't even imagine shooting anything as small as a 27". WOW!!!

I shoot 28" at 6'1". i think a lot of people are over drawn. You string should not touch your face, look at Randy Ulmer;).

Holy cow. Am I the only guy here under 6'!!

Seriously, what do you guys eat for breakfast? I'm 5'6" with stubby arms...and I feel great with a 27" DL.

I didn't eat enough of it whatever it was. My brother is 6 6 and my dad and grandpa are 6 3.. Heck, grandma was 5 8...Didn't get the height, got the bad hair and eyes... Seems fair.

RE: Am I the only 6ft guy that.........

I'm 6' 4" and my draw length is 32" to the center of the button. I shoot finger style with a tab and anchor on the side of my jaw. The string is on the side of my nose 1/4" back from the tip. I shoot a XX78 Super Slam at 32 7/8" for hunting. My bow is a Hoyt Pro Tec with 47 3/4" ata and a draw weight of 72 lbs. May not be the fastest arrow in the woods, but when it gets to the target there is no doubt to the outcome.:D

I am 6'4" and I shoot a 32.5 in draw.

I have a 81 1/4in wing spand and according to most charts I should be at 33in but It feels a little better a half inch shorter.

BigJ12, You made my night. It's great to hear from someone that has an extremely long draw. I was beginning to think I was the only archer left that gets his moneys worth when he buys arrows.:D

I hear ya!

The down side being finding bows that go to 33in draw length can be frustrating.......Like I always say "It's not a big man's world" nothing fits!:D

6'3" here and I shot a 31" draw for years. Then I started getting into the technical side of archery and interested in shooting competition. I found out fairly quick that my correct draw length is 29 1/2" and thats what I've been shooting ever since.

RE: Am I the only 6ft guy that.........

5 ft 11 or 6 ft depending on how much I stretch. Wing spand is 74 inches and I shoot a 29 inch draw with a loop and a slight bend in the elbow. A lot of the pros will advocate a straight shooting arm but that's not for me. I find I'm more stable with the slight bend and I get the clearance string to sleave when I shoot. It also gives me some fudge factor when shooting at odd angles from my tree stand.

I'm 5' 11.5" and I shoot 27 1/2 (or maybe it was 27" even). Never known anything different so I can't vouch for better/worse shooting upon change.
