Which Vanes?

Going to buy a dozen easton axis shafts and I need to know what vanes I should put on them. I am shooting a 70 lb bow with a drop away rest using 125 grain fixed broadheads. Which vanes should I put on these arrows. Thanks a bunch.

You joined 8-16-04 and this is your first post?

Wow you've got patience,

As far as vanes go with a drop away and perfect fletching clearance you might consider bohning Blazers or regular Bohning 4" vanes.

I shoot duravanes as they are a tad lighter, but their durablity isn't as high as some of the others IMHO.

I'm not sure you can really go wrong with any vane currently on the market as long as it's 4"+ and fletched with agood helical or offset to it.

What are you shooting on the tips? If your using fixed braodaheads, I'd go with a five inch, if you are going mechanicals, then a four inch should be fine. I'd use the Easton Vanes it using the four inch or AAE elites if using the 5 inch. Easton stopped making 5 inch for some reason. Some people say that the they are the same exact vanres, and I believe thatm however, I always seems to have better luck applying glue to the eastons.

I've been curious about the Bohning Blazer vanes, I understand they are only two inches long. Is this correct? If so, have people had good results with fixed broad heads and these vanes. I shoot Montecs.

Thanks,

Actually I might go with gold tip arrows but I think I am going to use AAE vanes on them. Thanks for the replys. I joined up last fall when I was buying a new bow and have just been a lurker, too busy I guess. Hi all and maybe I will be around her more. Thanks again.
