cutting carbons twice?
 

i heard that it isnt possible to cut carbons twice unless u cut them beyond the end of the insert b/c it is impossible to remove the insert. anybody heard anything about this? my arrows are cut at 28 inches which is almost 1 1/2 inches past the rest so i had room to grow into them if my draw length went up. so once i stop growing will i not be able to cut them to the length i want again?

EDIT: i have terminator hunters if that makes a difference

If you want to cut them from the insert end then yes it needs to be farther back then the insert.

Or you could just wait until they need refleched and cut them from the nock end.

You can cut carbon arrows twice and still get your insert back, if you're careful. You are right in thinking that you can't cut unless you do so after the insert, but if you still want that insert back you can get it out. Take a lighter, any lighter will do, and heat the cut portion of the arrow (the part with the insert in it) until the glue melts. YOu may want to hold onto both the end of the insert and the piece of arrow with pliers as both get really hot. When you think it's heated up enough, try pulling on both ends, the insert should slip right out. Wipe it off, and you're good to go.

You won't melt epoxy,and thats what is used for most carbon inserts.

You can't heat epoxied carbons without the chance of extracting inner layers. Not a good move.

Also, you can cut them shorter than the insert by usually 1/4" and extract the inserts even if they are epoxied. It all depends on how much epoxy was used. This is a better gamble than heating them.

So I just bought a doz carbons and one insert I can't screw any tips into.....you are saying that thing is junk, I can't get a new insert?

Run a tap thru it, or bring it back where you bought it.
