Release Loop?

I was wondering if most archers in the forum opt to use a release loop? The specialist at the shop I bought my bow recommended not using one.

Thanks!

If your talking a loop for your release on the bowstring then yes I use one.

Most people shoot a string loop around here. Most of the shops here recommend them, as they are a big help. I would ask the "specialist" why he doesn't recommend them. He might just not know how to install one[:o]. Don

D loops have several advantages, IMO.

1. Reduces string wear
2. Puts equal amount of pressure above and below nock
3. If you draw back and need to let down, your arrow is less likely to come off the string
4. More accurate for my setup

Yes, you will lose a little draw length, but the benefits far out weigh this minimal amount of speed loss, IMO.

Loop is the only way to go IMO. Won't shoot with out one tied on my string.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this. While at a 3-D shoot with my brother I was looking at his arrow at full draw when he was shooting and noticed the arrow was bowed down in the middle. He was using a caliper release attached directly to the string. He later installed a string loop and cured this problem. Or maybe it wasn't a problem. I use one and believe it helps accuracy.

how can u lose draw length??? it only changes anchor point not your draw length. anyways i used one and didnt like it so i changed back to off the string. i would say that it is a personal preference.

I had bad luck with the loop's my hunting partner uses them and has no problems. I find that they spin the string and even herd of them breaking. Try them out though and if your shooting dosn't improve then go back the the norm.

RE: Release Loop?

As stated before, there are many advantages to a string loop. If properly put on, they won't come loose and if the right material is used, I think your string would break before a loop will. You will loose draw length with a loop. Depending on how long your loop is, you will lose 1/2" to 3/4" draw length. Look at your relese clipped to your string and then clip it to your loop. That's how much draw length you loose. The draw length on your bow doesn't change but the point of your release attachment does. Don

RE: Release Loop?

Thanks for all your helpful input folks! I had a loop put on my string this morning and it definetly felt better and my shooting improved. Now I am wondering if I should have bought the Ultra-Nok II or the TruFire® Five Star Center Nock? I bought the inexspensive loop instead. Any experience with either of these?

RE: Release Loop?

Ultra Nock is a great loop, i have one on my hoyt right now, they are strong, solid, and align your peep sight as well. Only disadvantage I can say is the speed loss of about 12FPS but I think its a fair trade. Good Luck!

I have been using a string loop for years now, and wouldn't shoot without one. All the benefits have already been covered and I don't think you would regret using one yourself. Aim for the boiler room. Bhunter32.

I Would Like To Know As Well. I Currently Have A String Loop And Thought About Changing To An Aluminum Loop. I Have Heard It Has A Negative Effect On Speed But I Am Not Sure How Much.

RE: Release Loop?

I've had a string loop for about five years and really like it, my buddy didn't believe in them until he drew on a deer and his arrow popped off. I tied one on for him and he couldn't believe that he didn't listen to me sooner.

RE: Release Loop?

I much prefer the string loop. Less weight, no release wear, no click when you attach your release, no clicking noise when shot, and you can shorten or lengthen to fine tune that last 1/8" of draw length and as stated less expensive. With good quality strings, peep rotation is a non issue. If you remove that peepy thing [&:]and just shoot a kisser or nothing you will notice after a couple of hundred shots, you can get away without a peep for hunting yardages;). Don
