Almost lost one.

I shot a doe at 8:30 in the morning. I thought it looked good, but she ran about 50 yards and stopped to look my direction. She looked like she was hurting as she slowly walked away, stopping every few yards to look my way and to lick her wounds( a complete pass thru). After 30 minutes we( there was 4 of us) got down and got the one guys 8 point buck out, and looked for my does blood trail. The trail started out good with bright red blood about the size of a softball every few yards(about 5 spots),after that it turned into small drips, but it completely stopped after 150 yards. It took a while to fielddress the buck and get him the 1/2 mile to the guys boat, where we ate lunch. She should of had time to die. When we got back and the trail ran out, we decided to have three guys sit while the other one would go to the other end of the thicket and slowly work back and forth till he got to us. He scared 7 deer out past us, but none were wounded. It was 2:00 now and the other guys were going to another island to evening hunt. I looked thru the timber one last time and then got my stuff out of the woods. I felt bad, so I went to the other end of the thicket one last time and worked my way back thru it slowly. I looked over and seen a doe bedded down with her butt toward me but she was looking at me. It was 3:00 now. I couldn't see the wounds, but I new it had to be her because she wasn't getting up and running away. I took a arrow out of my quiver and drew back. I hit her by the tail and she got up and ran 30 yards and fell over dead. The arrow went all the way into the lungs. The first shot had been low and back, but it still looked like it should have done the job. Her bed had one spot of blood in it. She was facing a small pond, it was just on the other side of the small leeve( 30 yrds away).
