nose worms in whitetails???

Hey everybody, I killed a deer the other day, on monday morning. Took the head to a taxidermist on late Tuesday. As I was there a huge worm, an inch long or better, crawled out of its nose. It looked like a huge maggott but I know that not what it was. The taxidermist said he sees a lot of it sometimes 4 to 5 in one deer. Does anyone have any more information on these worms and what damage they can do to a deers health?

Bot Worms or Bott worms. I'm not sure of the spelling, but they are very common and I find them in most of the deer I cape. I believe they come from a Bot fly and eventually mature and leave their nasal pasage. I have'nt noticed any ill effects from them but I would guess they are an annoyance to any animal.

WEll, never seen them in deer but have seen them in other, domestic animals. We call them nose bots. Nasty little things, I think in most situations the animals are okay as long as there isn't a massive amount of them (Like most parasites)
