I like shooting 5" sheild feathers , with fixed broadheads , they give better stearing , but if your cabels are close to your string there can be slight interfearance on the draw that makes noise , and the deer will bust ya .

Deer-hunter18 - on the top: left is 5" shield cut, middle is a 5 3/4" maxi or bannana cut, right is 5" parabolic. Bottom two arrows are shield and parabolic in 4" length.

From what I've experienced, if they're going to make noise, shields make slightly more hiss than parabolics. The big 'nanner will make more noise than either of the others, but you sure don't have any problems getting broadheads to fly straight with 'em. ;)

They've got a lot of good info about feathers here:Trueflight Feathers

Yep, everything I've read says between the two the speed's the same. Boils down to which you think looks best.

They are correct... There is no differance between them in speed and performance... The thing is just the Shield is popular in Europe and Parabolic is popular here in the U.S. It's just what you like in looks...

arthur, are you left handed?

I'm ambidextrous, but right eye dominant. Just switched to shooting left handed about 4 weeks ago because of a bad shoulder.

thanks, do you think it matters what helical you shoot depending on what hand you shoot a compound bow? i've done both to see which side of the issue i'm on and didn't notice a difference in contact.
