How well does a bow hold value?
I've been thinking a little bit and decided that I'm going to trade up in the spring of 2006 for a new bow, as I'll outgrow the bow i have now. I'm thinking that i wont grow a whole lot after that. What would be estimated value of a 2004 Mathews LX in 2006?I'm hoping when i trade up that ill just take everything off the bow i got now and stick it on the new one. any ideas?

RE: How well does a bow hold value?
Lots of variables here but I would take it back to where you bought it. That pro shop will probably give you more than anyone cause 1) Your a repeat customer 2) Chances are he's worked on your bow and knows how good or bad of shape it is in. Just my 2 cents.:)

Bows don't hold their value. As soon as you take it off the shelf and take it home figure on half the price you paid for it unless you find someone that specifically is looking for the bow you have.

It is not going to be much, but I would guess around $100. There are too many variables.

If the bow is not discontinued between 2004 and when you plan to sell it look for around $350 for it bare bow. If it is discontinued, good luck:D

You will get a better amount off it on Ebay. I've seen Matthews and a few others go for way more than you will get on a trade in.

If I were to take my 2004 LX back to the shop where I bought it and trade it in, they usually will sell an Outback to me for $100. I imagine it would be around the same or a little more for a Switchback. The Outbacks were only going for about $20 more than the LX's when they first came out.

I think its been at least 10 years since I've seen a bow shop that takes trade ins. The best place lately to sell used bows seems to be eBay.

I buy them at estate auctions and flea markets for 10 to 30 dollars sometimes. Worse depreciation on a bow then a used toilet
