Nice article Charlie. It would seem that what the UV Killer folks have been saying for quite some time is right on.... at least in low light conditions. I still prefer camo to camo/orange because in bowhunting situations I don't want other hunters to see me as much as I don't want the deer to. :) Ofcourse, if another archer is aiming 30 feet up a tree then they definitely aren't aiming at a deer. ;)

I find it curious though that there was no mention of camo patterns. As long as the pattern allows you to blend into your surroundings it would not seem to matter if it was "open" or "conventional".

Here is another sight with what appears to be the same study. I found it a couple years ago and also found it very interesting. WARNING! This is the super long, extended, leave out no detail, takes for ever to read version.[link]http://www.atsko.com/T15.html[/link]

That artice link from c-woods also has links to photos on the right hand column - titled "Don't stand out in the woods". The photos are a much quicker read than the article.

The UV stuff makes a whole lot of sense to me. If those photos are anything close to what a deer sees, you could actually be worse off with brighter camo against the woods than with dull blaze orange.

A lot of old-time hunters tell me "don't believe people who say whitetails can't see orange". I think this explains those old timers are close . . . . they don't exactly see orange, but they do see a bright color against the woods. I'm gonna get me some UV reducing stuff.

Either way I also believe that scent and movement are worse than color.

Thanks
