Mathews shooters
Would like to get some opinions from any Mathews shooters who have shot the Outback and the LX. Which one does everyone prefer and any reasons behind why? I am trying to decide between the 2. I know the Outback is shorter and I know the LX is faster but I am looking more for how smooth to shoot.

RE: Mathews shooters
If you want a mathews wait a couple more weeks and get the new switchback. It is a blend of them both. Well supposted to be anyways.

RE: Mathews shooters
I can't saying anything about the LX but I've owned the Legacy and now I own a Outback and between those two I like the Outback hands down. To me the Outback shoots better as far as being more forgiving and consistant. My legacy seem to have a flier every so often. Like Buckeye said from what I understand the Switchback is supposed to be the best of both worlds. You may want to wait and shoot it.

RE: Mathews shooters
I have Legacy also and I love it but my son can pull it back now so he is going to start using it. I would like the Switchback but I can't afford brand new so I am going to buy a one year old Outback or LX off ebay or Archery Talk. There are some really good deals and they should get better as the new model comes out.

RE: Mathews shooters
I like the LX better than the Outback, I kept my LX hoping this year to get the Switchback if it is better than my LX. I thought I Outback was not as smooth as my LX, I like the speed I get with the LX, and I think the Switchback will be the perfect bow with the BH, and Smooth Draw, not to mention 1fps faster than the LX, being even quieter than Outback and LX.

RE: Mathews shooters
You can't go wrong either way but I personally think that what you will give up in speed with the Outback you'll grain in shootability.
|
RE: Mathews shooters
I own an Outback and love it. Can't comment on the LX or switchback cuz I haven't shot them. I doubt you can go wrong with any of them though.
|
RE: Mathews shooters
i shot both and i picked the LX. I thought it fit me better and balanced better in my hand. I think i'd wait and shoot the switchback though.

RE: Mathews shooters
Most dealers now have or will be getting in the next few days a demo Switchback. I'd suggest you go to your local dealer and shoot all three. Then decide which is the best for you! Like some else said, the Switchback is suppose to be a mix of LX and Outback...best of both worlds. Smooth and fast.

RE: Mathews shooters
It doesn't matter as long as it is a Mathews they all shoot well...J ust ask ROB/PA ( hoyt shooter )lol..I'm adding to this post from yesterday,I had the pleasure of shooting the switchback today when I was picking up my son's new bow that I got him for Christmas( he's 8 ) and I just put money on one so I can pick it up after the holiday's..It's light, well balanced and extremely steady. We chronographed the speed at 310fps out of the box at a 29 inch draw....If you shoot it once you will buy it..I warn you if you go and shoot it leave all credit cards at home lol....

RE: Mathews shooters
I hear ya Q2, I hear ya.....I don't know after shooting a Hoyt for so many years...I had a chance to talk with Q2 on the phone today for Christmans ( we live 2.5 hours apart) and he said the handle on the Switchback isn't that large stupid wooden handle they usually use.....(whisper) might be time to test shoot another MMmmmm (unwhisper) No I can't say it...LOL we'll see.

RE: Mathews shooters
i got a lx in the spring . i dont think you could go wrong shoots great
1 problem i had 70 pds max was only pulling 64 set at max had to take back get string twisted but puts them right in their got a 8point 16 inch spread 7 1/2 long tines 1 week of pa archery |
RE: Mathews shooters
I haved owned both and they are great bows. I like the Outback better. I really didn't notice any difference between speed and smoothness. The LX is longer and the Outback works better in a tree stand but I could deal with that. The really BIG difference, to me, was the brace height. I knew, after 20 years at this, not to buy a bow with a brace height under 7". I had problems when wearing heavy clothes of tapping the sleave and just couldn't deal with that issue so I sold the LX and got the Outback. I would defintely wait and shoot the Switchback before buying. I WILL NOT SHOOT THE SWITCHBACK FOR ANY REASON-NO WAY-NO WAY- NO WAY, WELL MAYBE JUST ONE SHOT!:(

RE: Mathews shooters
Just saw the switchback today at the shop a guy bought the first one the store had got .It is one sweeet bow i might have to get one for myself.
|
RE: Mathews shooters
I would wait on the Switchback. I generally like a longer ATA bow since I have a 30" draw. The Outback is a nice bow but the string angle is way too steep in my opinion for anyone with a draw over 29".
|
RE: Mathews shooters
I have an LX and love it. I will keep it for along time, due to cost involved, but all 3 are very nice bows.
|
RE: Mathews shooters
I have read on several other forums the drawlengths of the Switchbacks are running long and the back wall is not a solid as that of the LXs or Outback. I still plan on trying one out. Same as DoninVa, I would rather have the extra BH on the Outback for hunting.

RE: Mathews shooters
i just shot the switchback today and there is no turning back i will have one by next month
