Redeemed

Well, I posted a while back that I shot a doe but found no blood nor doe after much searching. Needless to say, hunting wasn't quite as enjoyable for awhile afterwards. Sunday morning I hit the tree stand about 6:00 am. About 6:45, 3 does came in at about 15 yards but not enough light for my pins or peep sight. They ended up walking off just before 7:00. They apparently looped around and came back about 10 minutes later. 2 of them were in front of me to the right while the biggest one was straight away broadside pointed to my left but partially blocked by a tree. She stepped forward in clear sight. I checked the other 2 and they were facing away and when she looked up and away from me I drew and set the pin and let it fly. She bolted in what looked like a J-hook path. I lost sight fairly quickly but could hear branches snapping and finally a loud crash and then silence. It was about 7:15. The other 2 does scampered about 10 feet and then just stood there looking around before finally just walking off. I got down about 8:00. Arrow stuck in ground with what appeared bubbled blood. Picked up blood about 7-8 yards from hit. Good trail led me straight away, up a small ledge and up a slight hill, hard right turn down hill to a small ravine and back up hill. Walking up hill, I saw her. What a thrill and blessing. She ran about 80 yards. Double lung hit using Spitfire 100's. Actually sliced a rib clean in two on exit. Felt a whole lot better about the Spitfires. I know the lost doe was bad shot on my part but I still wondered about the Spitfires but they performed great. Sure renewed my enthusiasm! Just thought I'd share this.

I'm not sure what sound I like best. The crash or the silence.

Congrats on a job well done. It certainly make you feel better about the season.
