Deer tracks in the snow?

Does anyone one know why some deer seem to drag their feet in the snow while others don't? I mean I've seen tracks in the same location, smae distance apart .. one set has lines in the snow between tracks while the other is clean. Is it just individual habit, deer size, speed of movement?

Deertale!

When you see deer that seem to drag thier feet ,this is a buck ,buck's do this all the time in the snow .I can't tell you why this is but that's why your seeing some that drag and the one's that don't are the doe's .

I also believe that the little ones(Fawns)will make the drag marks as well as their little legs are to short for the deep snow.

like it says in the link I posted in shallow snow it 99% of the time it is a buck but when the snow gets deep its not always a buck that is leaving drag marks. You can also tell by the size of the print
