RE: Your opinion on the easiest killed deer in the woods.
Iv'e never known anyone in WI to call a fawn a yearling. A 1.5 year old is a yearling. Anyway, like I stated before, you just can't get a reasonable answer unless hunting conditions are exactly the same for every deer everywhere. Buckeye, I am also a big QDM supporter, but I must agree with atlas that many of the threads and responses you post somehow lessens the credibility of other hunters. I am sure you are a fine hunter, along with that title though comes the responsibility to respect other hunting bretheren and their accomplishments. IMO.:)

RE: Your opinion on the easiest killed deer in the woods.
Is anyone still trying to say a 1 1/2 year old buck is easier to kill than a button buck? Yes, because 95% of the time that button buck is with it's mother and other fawns. The mother is normally very protective and aware when trying to teach its youngsters and you have at least 3 sets of eyes to try to fool. Even when I have no intention of shooting at them I get busted by a mature doe with her fawns much more often than a 1 1/2 yr old buck. Matter of fact I can't remember the last time I have been busted by a 1 1/2 yr old buck, it has been years. Also in my main hunting area in Southern Ohio we see more 1 1/2 yr old bucks than does, some days 2 or 3 times as many young bucks. Also all these statements about trophy hunters trying to make it easier for them to kill big bucks is ridiculous. We don't even live in the same area, how could you help me by passing on the young bucks? We are all simply stating our opinions and I agree that it is OK to disagree. So how many of you that think the yearling fawn is the easiest to kill actually shoot them? Atlasman said he is after the first legal deer that he has a tag for, does that include these yearlings that are so easy to kill? Just curious. |

Just because 2 people don't agree on something doesn't mean they personally dislike each other Jimbo. Why do people assume disagreement=dislike?? |

Think about it ...a yearling? A deer in it's first year of life. I really dont care what anyone calls them wherever your from , makes no difference , but dont tell me it's not a regional thing. They all taste good. :D |

The doe I shot with my gun with my gun opening day was 6 months old.........and she was sniffing the 1 1/2 year old buck I shot 25 minutes earlier ;) If I have a tag for it..........it's a shooter. I shot the first buck that offered me a chance in archery (6 pt) I shot the first buck I saw with gun (4 pt) I shot the first and second does I saw with gun Every legal chance I have had to take a deer this year I have done so. I could have taken more but in some cases I had no tags left :( |

The button buck is always walking away from mom and meandering through the woods before she even gets up and after she beds down. I highly doubt thats a regional thing. NJ_Bowhntr I stand corrected. Maybe it's just my little cirle of the world that has refered to a fawn as a yearling as long as I can remember. mammasboy , eventually you will. Try and get out a little more.;) This discussion seems pretty useless anyway. |

OK I will take a step back and say......
A motherless fawn is on the same plane as a yearling buck in terms of ease of harvest, perhaps more so [X(] |
