Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
Since I have gotten so much help already from this forum, another question.
I have a two piece quiver on my bow, which seems as quiet as they get, but it still seems like I would rather clean up the bow entirely and wear the arrows on me. Anybody have preferences or experience to share? THANKS in advance. |
RE: Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
Excellent question.
Its a matter of preference. Some guys have told me they want that quiver attached to the bow at all times in case they need a follow-up shot. I play the odds, which means that I know I'll almost never get the chance for a follow-up shot anyway...so I remove the quiver from the bow and hang it nearby on the tree stand or the tree itself. If you're going to leave it on your bow make sure you practice shooting with it on your bow...and vice-versa. |
RE: Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
I like to use the catquiver. it stays snug on your back and doesn't take much movement to get another arrow out. the only draw back i have found is when you are trying to belly crawl thru some thick stuff it sometimes get hung up and there goes your stalk. jmo

RE: Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
quickie quiver here , as soon as I get up the tree I screw a cadey into the tree and when my bow comes up the quiver goes in it . One of my buddies has a mount on the seat portion of his stand and puts his quiver in that .

RE: Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
I take the quiver off soon as I get settled in.
Last year I hunted all year with just one arrow. Didn't even carry a quiver. Just stuck some foam on the broad head and the vanes end in my hip pocket if I needed to. |
RE: Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
I wouldn't recommend the pocket idea.

RE: Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
After I pull up my bow I mount my quiver to my climber before I hang my bow on the tree.!!!!

RE: Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
I use a custom back quiver that I take off when I get in the stand, I carry 3 hunting arrows and 1 practice .
If you only carry 1 arrow and find it is bent or a vane is coming off your hunt is over. IMO the back pocket is a no no, you could get cut badly if you fell or the foam came off. |
RE: Arrows on the Bow or on Me?
I've done lots of stuff I wouldn't recomend for anyone else, LOL.
The pocket thing even made me a little nervous while climbing a tree but it wasn't in there a lot. Just more like an extra hand for a minute or two most of the time. |
