Which is tougher to kill a mature whitetail with a bow or a boss gobbler with a shot gun?

Sorry to offend you guys by saying that I find turkey hunting to be too simple for me to find it very challenging.

Bowfanatic you are right. A rock may be over exaggerating just a little. I may use a sling shot instead.

I will give you guys turkey hunting lessons for $50 an hour if anyone is interested. It sounds like a bunch of you need them.

Lesson 1: Scouting for Turkey Sign & Learning your hunting area

Lesson 2: Learning the calls and when to use them(and when to just shut up and wait)

Lesson 3: Roosting Turkeys and returning for the kill

Lesson 4: Busting up the flock and calling them back

Lesson 5: If they don't respond to your calls just stay put and wait them out(Let your scouting pay off)

Lesson 6: Leg it out(Sometimes you just have to cover alot of ground)

I don't know........are you on a game farm or state land or a private food plot?? Are you in a stand or stalking?? Is it a compound bow, recurve or longbow?? What kind of shotgun is it and what is it's effective range??? Are you in a blind or not?? How much hunting pressure are the deer and turkey under??? Are you alone or do you have 10 buddies pushing the deer to you in a drive??? Have you done any scouting or is it a new area you are not familiar with??


Like I said, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many variables to compare the two.

According to what you professed, it appears you may be padding the actual instructions necessary to hunt and kill turkey.

Should not your classes only be comprised of two 10 minute periods?

1. Easy hunting techniques for easy kills.
2. Best rock composition and size.

The Whitetail has been tougher for me than a Turkey to kill.

Is this why you find turkey hunting easy? You wait until their roosting in a tree and then &quot;return for the kill&quot;?

The only thing your proving , by the dribble your posting , is that either you haven't got a clue about turkey hunting or you just get a rise out of causing controversy.

Comparing the diffeculty of a certain species to hunt -vs- another can only be done by using the same hunting techniques. You started the thread by comparing turkeys to whitetails , and then changed to 4 year old buck -vs- turkey , and yet again , changed to adult buck with a bow -vs- tom turkey with a shotgun. In the last scenario , I would give the nod to the buck. Boss tom -vs- mature buck , both hunted with bow , the nod goes to the boss tom.
