Could a recurve screw up my target game?
I posted this in the Trad forum also!
I joined a recurve league just to have fun. Sometimes this target archery gets pretty serious. In your experiences could shooting a re curve bow with fingers, mess up my compound with back-tension form? |
RE: Could a recurve screw up my target game?
I shoot both recurve and compound with fingers on the recurve and release on the compound. Are you using a release with your compound? If so, it shouldn't hurt your form/release. I think the recurve helps with me a lot shooting compound. I don't shoot my compound with fingers so I can't comment on that.

RE: Could a recurve screw up my target game?
I've shot targets with a compound and did my hunting and fun shooting with a recurve/longbow for the past 25 years. No problems. The way I approach it, I've got a totally different mindset with the compound than I do with the stickbow, totally different shooting procedure. If anything, shooting the compound improved my stickbow shooting form. At the same time, shooting the stickbows strengthened my muscles in the final draw length range of motion, which made my back tension shooting more powerful and fluid. Each style feeds the other.
