Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts (new pics added)
Well, some of you know I'm playing with my new digital camera as seen in the pictures from my honey hole. I thought I'd share the mounts I have in my log home thus far. All these animals were taken with my bow.....some of you may remember the posts on said animals. The only one I don't have is my mount of my spring gobbler this spring past, he's not home yet.

RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Rob,
That's a nice piece of heaven you have there. Nothing like a house full of animal to make you feel at home. |
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts

RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
I was thinking the same, nice mounts and nice log home. Lets see more pics of the home. Log cabins are on of my most favorite types of homes. My final project in Architecture class was to design something, I designed a log home.

RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Very nice looking cabin indeed! The only thing that would look better is to have my deer heads hanging in there!:D Just kidding rob. Thats a very nice collection there. Something to be proud of.

RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
wideone, thank you
Mantis Mayer, and you too. [&:] lol Turkey Fan, It was a package from Lincoln Logs Ltd. out of upper state NY. I had a contractor complete the outside of the house weather tight and then I took over and finished the inside myself, with friends and family of course. I'll add more pics of the house this week but for now you can take a virtual photo tour of my house on line. My log home dealer features it on their website. Go to www.jackandkay.com , skip the intro, in the upper left corner click "Building a Log Home"...it features my home, click play. Thank you kshunter, thanks for sharing in it as well. adams, thank you and your right, not only the animals but the house itself has a warm welcome home feeling. My friends who come hunt with me from out of town love coming to the "lodge" to hunt...lol nubo, your mount will come my friend. My first is in the 4th pic by the elk clock. It hangs in my office over my puter.....he wasn't a giant but he was injured. He had been hit by a car the year previous and his left femur bone was sticking out of his skin and healed over. His leg was locked so he was walking on the top of his hoove. I had to honor him so to speak. flintflinger, check out the link above and I'll add pics soon, thanks. Sounds like a great project you took on, do you do anything in the same field for a living? RTA47, thank you but we in these "cabins" call them home...LOL Check out my link above for more of my cabin..lol and others. IL-Cornfed, thanks for the enthusiasm, makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.;) Carpmaster, thanks Bowfanatic, thank you Doug Texas Hunter, yeah, I like the Bear as well. He was taken in Quebec on the second day of a 5 day hunt. A full mount was the only way to go. He currently was moved from his home there by the steps to allow for the 11' Christmas tree, I moved him to the window and I often wonder what would happen if a bear came on my porch....I do have them around...might hear some broken glass.[&:] coyote170, thanks, your username..do you like the yote mount? Frank, thanks old friend. I can't wait to add the gobbler mount. I have 21' peak in the center of the great room with a main beam up the middle supporting the loft. My gobbler is mounted half strut, gobblin off the limb and I'm putting him on this main beam so it appears to be in a tree when you walk in but from the loft he'll be eye level. Of course I'll add pics but it'll be in the turkey forum this spring. Thanks all |
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Here's a shot of this years Christmas tree and a shot off the loft towards the mountain stone fire place, you can see my best buck and elk each side of the fireplace. This is in my great room.

RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Rob, the deer mounts are great, but what stands out are the coyote and bear mount. I would love to get a coyote mounted...but first I have to shoot one, then try to figure out where the heck I would put it in my house.
For the last 3-4 years, I have been trying to talk my wife into the log cabin/home thing. She's more of a city gal, but I am slowly but surely turning her on to the possibility of a log home when it's time to build/buy. That's still a few years down the road, but thanks for sharing the pictures of your home and game with the rest of us. |
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Nice cabin, pics, and bucks!
|
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
hunter25, thanks and good luck on your coyote and getting the Mrs. to set her mind for a log home. For me, it was my dream and everyday I come home after work or a hard day hunting, the house feels so welcoming. Like someone said to me when I was working towards a log home, set your mind to and work for it.....don't give up, it'll happen.
Avid_, thank you as well. |
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
I'm jealous....of your beautiful mounts and cabin.
|
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
I just took the virtual tour.... WOW... very nice! Dude, that is THE house everyhunter needs!!! :)
|
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
PA Bowyer
I took the tour, very nice. We have a long way to go before something like that can happen for us. That will probably be a "after the kids are gone" thing. At ages 6, 4, and 4 months, I got aways to go yet. It was a fun project. Lots of work though. I dont do much in the way architecture anymore. I am a designer but it is for mechanical type stuff on a Nuclear site in Washington State. I still dabble in home design though. Again, beautiful home you got there. |
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Rob---those are some beautiful mounts you got there and I like the first one you got.Nice to see you honoured the animal after what its gone through. All the mounts look good.
I also like your house alot.Always had a soft spot for the log cabins.Another couple the wife and I know have a log house and its absolutely georgious.Someday we will have one to on my own property. Now just a favour to ask of you--------Considering you just got the camera and learning how to use it,and having alot of fun as well, what about a pic of the out side of the house:) Again congrats rob on your beautiful trophies:) |
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts (new pics added)
Awesome house indeed.

RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts (new pics added)
Hunter 25- I'm Robs hunting partner and good friend, and if you like the way the yote looks, you should see it while sitting in the loft. When you look over at him his head sticks up over the railing and stares right at you, i'ts so cool..This is where I go to relax and unwind ..Do you blame me?Rob stop grinning i'ts making me ill lol..You know I love your home and will brag for you..

RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts (new pics added)
WalMart, thanks
IL-Cornfed I thought you'd like that. The only thing is they show the model home plan at 28X44, I made this house 28X50. Flintflinger, really sounds like a lot of work, that project I mean and yeah, you have some youngins there but at the same time, that is special in it's own way for sure. I'm 38 and still thinking of having my first....I suppose I shouldn't wait to darn long so I'm not too old to be there. extreme1, thanks and good luck on your own someday. They are so warm and inviting aren't they? For a good shot of the exterior and floor plan as well as a virtual tour, click this link.... http://www.jackandkay.com/building.html and click play. MO_Bow, thank you, it was hard work and I didn't have a life but I did take time that fall for the buck I shot and mounted...the one by the fireplace. Q2, after I read that I looked back over my loft and the yote was staring me down, gave me chills....and you know you'll always have a pillow in this "hunting lodge"... And you guys should see the woman who runs this joint.;):D |
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Rob,
Raising little ones is no easy task thats for sure. Especially when your 6 year has the attitude of a 16 year old. I am in for a world of hurt when she comes of age. Its never to late to start a family. And It's good that you got your dream house before doing so, cause kids will put the biggest kink in plans. Dont get me wrong, I love my kids to the end of the earth and will die protecting them, but sometimes "pow, right to the moon" if you know what I mean. So post some pics of the "hottie" running the place. LOL JK |
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Great looking place you've got there and some fine looking mounts as well, thanks for sharing Rob!
|
RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts
Thank you ROB for the virtual tour, really enjoyed watching it.I really enjoy watching a house go up from scratch, you really get a sence of pride knowing you were part of it and doing half the work your self gives you a greater feeling of acheivement.Someday I will,Someday.I own in town with my lovely wife and 2 kids.Hopefully next year we will sell and move to the country.:)

RE: Some of my bow "harvests". Mounts (new pics added)
I think people are more interested in hearing about the house then the hunts...lol. Nice animals!
