December Harvest, Pics
My Dec 01 public land, whitetail harvest. Lots of time spent this season before finally getting a nice buck on the ground, it's been great as always, I am very blessed and am looking forward now to eating the fine venison he will provide, having his cape tanned for taxidermy and getting him mounted. Time now to fill my second tag I wish everyone good hunting for the rest of their seasons. He's a 5x5 typical, grossing 138 1/8 his left side g-4 is broken off at one inch long. He has a 18 3/8 inch inside spread. His longest tines measure in the 9 and change catagories. I estimate him at 3.5 years old. He weighed 150lbs field dressed and 177 lbs whole. He didnt have much fat left on him. I shot him at a steep angle almost right under me about 6 yards from my tree as he walked by on the tracks of two doe that had passed right under my stand minutes earlier. With his left side exposed slightly quarting the ole bowtech liberty did its job, I got one solid lung and nicked a portion of his heart as my 100 grain hellfire head burried deep into his chest cavity, he traveled 40 to 50 yards.
