No doubt slugman, but which of these idiots are more dangerous? Hard to misfire or accidently discharge a trad. bow or compound and hit another hunter compared to these other weapons. Some idiots are simply more dangerous to others because of their hunting method of choice.

You want to use a crossbow no biggie.
But don't force me to......
Don't cut in to my season to make room for yours.
Cross bow & bow almost the same both could be used in the same season.
The only thing I have about cross bows learn there range just because you can hit the target at 35yds doesn't mean you have CE enough to kill cleanly.

No Arthur, they are thought provoking when they open my mind to a new way of seeing things. Which, initially you did! When you start telling me and the board that compounds, crossbows, and any advancement since the Indian days are boring and easy and no challenge, thus no accomplishment or sense of enjoyment, you lost my admiration for your viewpoint.
I had thought you were sharing some insight on your opinion and I can respect that. Heck everyone can appreciate and respect another guys opinion, at least until you slam most everything that this particular forum is about. Then it's time to m reconsider your viewpoint from being thought provoking to being anti-everything except what you want. At that point it's not an opinion, it's dictatorship, and that's when i quit listening.

A lot of compound hunters would drop their bows and go rifle if there was one big season - so that is a moot point Arthur P
You shoot a variety of bows like I have - good ! You then know exactly how much more accurate a modern compound is. Go to any 3D shoot that allows crossbows and you'll see a consitancy. Compounder have the best scores, folllowed by crossbows, then the recurve/longbows with sights etc than the more primitive categories etc etc.
I long ago realized you cannot regulte a slob going out, buying a weapon and going hunting. Can't do it be it a compound or a longbow or a rifle or a crossbow. in fact, if that is being taken into consideration, you'd WANT easier weapons that allow the shooter to become better faster, wouldn't you ?

Hope your recurve buddy's dont find out.
There was just som1 killed with a compound bow, it had an automatic lock when drawn & the guy pointed it at his buddy in the car ....went off & killed him
With proper training and basic safety practices, neither of those people would have died. Take the automatic locks off and, again, neither of them would have died. Difference is, without the locks, they would not have been messing around with loaded weapons, so those accidents could not have happened.

A man set his kid up in a treestand with a crossbow. At the end of the hunt, the kid was lowering the LOADED crossbow down on a rope, the trigger got caught on something. The crossbow went off, killing the kid.
Yes, that's why I think they should use compounds instead of crossbows
