What is the difference?

What is the difference between IBO and AMO when talking about arrow speed?

I am looking for a new bow and want something that I will shoot at least 250 fps through a cronograph.

RE: What is the difference?

Normally IBO specs are;

30" draw
70 #
5 grains per pound of pull or in other words a 350 grain arrow shoot with the above specs.

There are a few exceptions in the industry, for example some of the Darton bows are shot at 60# instead of seventy.

AMO Specs:
30 " draw
60 #
9 grains per pound or in other words a 540 grain arrow shot through the bow at the above specs.

RE: What is the difference?

So what I would do is choose the specs that are closest to my set-up? That way I can kind of come up with an approximation of what I can expect. Variations will be up or down depending on total arrow weight, spine, fingers/release etc?
