Hunt Clubs (any advice ?)
I am in the military going on 14 years stationed here and FT. Bragg NC 3rd SFG (Abn). In any case I have the oprotunity to join a hunt club. However the dues are non negotioable weather I am deyployed to Afghanstan or not.. Growing up on a farm in WA. things are a little different here in the south (God Bless it...) I will never leave the south.. So does anybody have any advice on hunt clubs good or bad. Are they a tight group of guys, and is the land owned by one of them or is it leased. Can you just go out there and hunt or do you make a phone call and check with someone.. Can you take your kids and relitives... I of course would ask all these questions but I dont think that it would be right to ask that up front... Or would it? Thanks Fellas...... Brad...

RE: Hunt Clubs (any advice ?)
bcwn welcome, and alot of good questions. i like the club type atomosphere, you'll learn quick enough who to trust and who to believe, there will be some good guys that would love for you to kill a deer and there will be some that want to make you believe they know everything, all in all i like clubs, but i kinda keep to myself, and i bowhunt alot, and try to stay away from dock-talk, as far as the money you put up most clubs pay in advance for the property and cant really expect that someone would have to leave mid season, i'll wish you the best of luck on that situation. as far as taking friends and relatives find out up front most people will not mind you asking but might be pissed if you show up with your dad opening day, best of luck and enjoy the rest of your season

RE: Hunt Clubs (any advice ?)
I belong to a hunt club in New Jersey, I am also the treasurer. We are not required to call in ahead of time and as far as bringing guests, I tell my members that they can but don't abuse the privelidge. I even put that ito the bylaws of our club. One thing about being in a club is hunting pressure. I find that the deer are spooked more than usual. Also, certain areas can get crowded. I tell my members to check the area thoroughly before hanging a stand just so they are not crowding other members. then you have your yahoos that like to walk around and still hunt when actually all they are doing is pushing the deer around and spooking them. These are just some things to thinkabout when you join a club. GOOD LUCK
