Gutpiles... Scare the deer?

Well.. I know a simple search would turn up my answer, but who likes to do that anyway? ;):D

In my experience, I have never had a gut pile adversely effect my hunting. Have my experiences been purely coincedential? I keep reading different posts about gut piles scaring away deer.....

What do you guys think?

I've ad deer come up to gut piles and smell them ,but they don't seem to be bothered in the least .So I'd say no is your answer.

No, in fact I shot a deer standing over a gut pile.

In my area coyotes don't leave them lay long enough for the deer to ever no they were there.

I don't know if it was the gut pile or just the general disturbance that goes with tracking, gutting, and dragging a deer but I have never had luck hunting the same stand the day after harvesting a deer.

The first time I tried it there were so many crows coming to the gut pile that it had the whole area "*****ed", not even birds or squirrels were out. Only tried it 3 times altogether and never saw a deer the next day, could have been coincidence?

We have bears and packs of coyotes in my neck of the woods. I don't think it is the gut piles but the scavengers that come to them that scare the deer out of the area for a day or two.
