Treestand Aiming Point??
What is the aiming point from say a 20ft high treestand position? What is the tendence to shoot high or low?

RE: Treestand Aiming Point??
When shooting from an elivated platform you should BEND at the waist do not drop your bow arm and aim for where you want the arrow to exit;)

That pretty much says it all.

I would tend to shoot a little lower. If you hit high at an elevated angle I would think your chances of missing the vitals would be greater.

RE: Treestand Aiming Point??
With my bow, if the deer is at 20 yds., I aim with my 15 yard pin right on the money, making my 20-25 yd pin ready for the heart shot if the deer doesn't drop, but if it does, my arrows will puncture the lungs with no doubt.
This works for me, but my sight pins are only about a 1/4 inch apart, so it might be different for you, but like a lot of people on here have told me; aim for the lower 1/3 of the deer vital area. |
RE: Treestand Aiming Point??
And remember to always use the horizontal distance to the deer, not the vertical distance. For example if a deer is 20 yards from the base of your tree you shoot for 20 yards even if you are 8 yards (24 ft) up in the tree. The tendacy is to shoot high because the deer looks to be farther than they really are.
Bend at the waist, aim midcenter on the body, and shoot for the flat distance and you are all set. |
