Blake Scores Whitetail, 8x4, pics, score update
 

Today, just got home and uploaded pics. Nothing dramatic about story, 30 yrd broadside with rockymountain snyper broadhead, liver, he was down in 50 yrds. Shot him a little after 7 this morning coming out to feed. Funny thing was he was leading the does and smaller bucks out...usually the bigger ones are at the end of the line? Anyhow, here are some pics...and oh boy, what a feelin. Gimme some guess on gross, will try to tape him later...











He's quite palmated on the one side with a hole in the horn from a branch when he was in velvet.

I would guess 135 gross score:)

He has great character.

Thanks guys, i thought 140-150 also. My buddy shot that deer's buddy opening day in september, we've kinda been after this one since, my other buddy missed him a couple weeks ago. Here is this deers buddy that my buddy shot....okay buddy:D. http://pic10.picturetrail.com/VOL326...9/66660288.jpg that deer roughs 143, not bad for a 4x4 eh? We thought mine was a bigger 4x4 150 plus, he looked in on the hoof. Anyhow, there he is, we weren't too far off.

Awesome buck, Congrats. In the scoring he will be hurt by the missing brow tine and will gross well but my guess is your only looking at approx. a 130 net at best. Should still make the book.

Thanks BD, i know deductions are gonna kill him for book, but wouldn't enter the book if he were over 170. I'm a gross guy:D. Nice to know he'd prolly pope though.

Blake I like gross scores as well and I would agree with John Deere and say your looking at approx 143. Let us know when you score him. Once again GREAT BUCK.

145, he is a solid buck, missing the brows it looks like, but has good mass, and good tine length and the main beams are long too. Deductions will kill you though.

Thanks guys,

I took a crude full size metal tapemeasure and looked a boone/crocket score sheet on the net and measure inside spread at 18", greatest spread at 21", g2's at 9 1/2 and 9 3/4, g3's at 7 3'4 and 8", main beams at 20 1/4", below g1 girth at 4", between g2 and 3 girth at 5" on the palmated side. P.s., i took all the main beam and tine lengths from the inside curve?? I dunno what i'm doing and i come out with a gross of 134"? Anyhow, the taxidermist (who prolly know's what he's doing ) said he's measure it up for me, i'll let ya know. Hope i did many things wrong? My initial thoughts were 140 to 150 somewhere...i'm hoping i'm a boob with the tape. Anyhow, he's goin on the wall, he's my trophy and i'm elated...its gonna be a long wait. I took lots of pics to help get me by.

Great looking buck. He's been fighting it looks like. You can get a really close measurement with a soft sewing tape. Measure the outside on the tines, where they intersect with the main beam and up. Outside on the main beams following the center vein of the main beam all the way out to its tip. Just from looking at the pictures I would estimate your buck grossing in the 140's. He's a dandy buck.

Your buck is a perfect example of a buck that is mature, hefty and doesn't NET well in accordance to the "SYSTEM" .......exactly why a lot of us hunters agree that the gross score before any deductions is a true representation of the bone the buck grew. Great buck Blake, congrats.

I first rough scored him not knowing what i was doing and used a regular old measuring tape and i measured inside curves and got a gross of 134 but just talked to the taxidermist who just quickly roughed him at 141 but said he wasn't adding the fractions so safe to say he grosses in the 140's and should still make pope. My first book buck that i won't enter...yippee.:D

Great buck and congrats!!! How do you like the performance of the Snypers? That is what I have with my rig but have yet to put one through a deer.

I agree with Bowtech, the browtines hurt this deer as far as score, but who cares(we already discussed that on another thread.) Congratulations on a beautiful deer!

I've only used one so far. To say i'm happy about how they performed for me on a liver hit of all things...would be an understatement. Earlier in season i hit a bambi in the liver, right thru middle like this one, with b52 fixed two blade broadhead 1 1/8" diam at 18 yrds and the little sucker went 120 yrds on basically the same hit. I dunno why this buck went down so fast, i know the blades are way sharper on the snyper and the entrance wound was outstanding, sailed right through that deer so easily too. So far i would highly recommend this head. Will prolly have gator's in my quiver next year for deer and snypers for anything bigger. Rockymountain has just what i want.
