Cardeer,
Those are Tupelo Gum trees and are found throughout the riverbottom slews that I have grown up in. They are huge at the bottom then get smaller as they go up due to the moisture they are found in. I love the riverbotttoms. |

Nice buck! I also went from 12hr swing shift to daywork a year ago. Boy you sure lose a lot of hunting time don't you? I only worked 14 days out of 28 and had 7 days off in a row every 4th week. The schedule ate into my nights and weekends and I wouldn't go back on it if I could, but when you don't have a choice and have to work it you can get in a lot of hunting. Those were the days! The weekend seems to fly by now doesn't it?

ShadowAce,
That is the same shift I just came off of. I dont' miss midnights but man I miss long break. If I worked it right I could take 40 hrs vacation and have a full two weeks off. And if I wanted, there was always overtime available to pay for my hunting. The worst part is it is not a great shift for family life. I have 3 kids with the oldest being 5. I chose the day shift for them and my wife. I just have to keep reminding myself of that during hunting season. When turkey season rolls around I'll go out of my mind only hunting weekends. In IL we can only hunt them till 1pm so weekends will be it. |
