My 2004 P&Y 10pt

I had posted this deer in the Deer Hunting Contest but not on the regular forum.

It all started this summer while I was watching the beanfield behind my house trying to see what was running around this year. The first night out a bachelor group of 6 or 7 bucks came out with 2 does. Two of the bucks really stood out, a big main frame 10pt and another identical to him but with a split G2. Soon after seeing the bucks I bought a trail cam and set it up in the area that I thought they we're using before hitting the field at night. My first roll from this spot gave me several pics of the 2 big ones. After seeing the pics and knowing just how good they we're I decided that I wanted one of these bucks and nothing smaller!
Fast forward to the second week or October I hadnt see the 2 big ones in any surrounding fields at night so I decided to do scouting in the block of woods I thought the deer we're using to see if there was any sign of them. I ended up bumping the 10pt out of his bed which is in an area of the woods that is extremely difficult to get in and stand hunt without getting busted. A few days later there was a light rain so using the wind to my advantage I tried to sneak in on this buck and slip an arrow into him while he was bedded. Unfortunaly he busted me before I saw him at about 40yds.
The following Saturday, Oct 15, I decided I needed to do something different if I wanted this deer. I called up a buddy and he volunteered to do a small drive for me to push this deer from his bed and I setup in a spot that I knew was a main escape route for the deer that bedded in this area. I stood on top of a spoil bank hiding behind a tree facing the way I expected them to come. First 2 yearling does ran straight down the spoil towards then cut down it about 10yds from me. While watching them a 6pt and a doe ran but about 30yds to my left. After these deer passed I waited for about 5more minutes when I saw movement about 75yds ahead of me. I lost sight of the deer when all the sudden 2 bucks we're heading down the spoil bank I was on heading right at me just like the yearlings did. I immediately recognized this first buck as the 10pt and only gave the second one a quik glance and knew he was a smaller buck.
At 40yds and closing I drew my bow and held on him as he came to about 15yds. At that point he cut down the spoil to the lower ground and as he was passing me directly to my right at 10yds I let out a mouth grunt. He stopped perfectly on a dime with a big tree blocking his body from the shoulder foward. I already had my pin behind his shoulder and I made a quik check to see that I wasnt going to shoot the tree then hit the release. I knew right away I hit him right where I wanted! He went about 15yds and stopped and stared my direction. I was looking at the blood spot tight behind his shoulder and was praying he would fall right then. After about 5 seconds he took off on a death run, bleeding from his side and his mouth so I was confident he wouldnt go far, I heard him crash a couple seconds later.
When my buddy made it to me I told him I just shot a Pope & Young! I stayed where I was and told hom to walk to where the buck stood when I shot. Instantly I saw a huge smile acrossed his face. I rushed down there and saw my blood covered arrow and blood all over the gound. We slowly followed the bubbly bright red blood and kept looking ahead hoping we would see him laying in front of us. The blood trail took a right turn and over a small knoll was the buck not 5ft from us. In all he made it 60yds at most. He is the biggest deer I have ever taken, in body and rack size.
The buck gross scored 134 7/8 and netted 128 0/8, ofcourse these are green scores but he shouldn't lose 3inches during the drying period.

Great buck....!!!! But I have a question, Why does the one pic have 10/15/04 and the other 10/16/04? Looks like the deer is still WHOLE on 10/16/04??

AmartinJr- The pic that says 10/15 he is still whole because that pic was taken about 40minutes after I killed him. We drug him up to my yard without gutting him because we try not to gut our deer in our hunting area if at all possible. The other pic was taken the next morning 10/16 and you cant tell but he has been gutted and on ice all night. We took a few more pictures to finish the roll.
Buckeye- I may enter him. I'd like to but I dont know how to go about it or how much hassle it would be. If its too much trouble and cost $$ then I probably wont.
