Tell me about your RAIN GEAR!!

I went out to hang a stand last week in the rain. I found out my Advantage Goretex rain suit of 10 years or more has finally lost it's waterproofing. At least the pants have. Soaked through all over my thighs. The jacket still seems good....at least I didn't wet through. So, maybe it's time to get a new one. Ya'll know what I want, reliable, quiet, sweatproof, good camo etc etc. What does everyone use. I'm not looking for the cheapest...or the best deal. Nor am I looking for the most expensive. I just want it to function. Some pockets would be nice. I do my own layering. I don't need insulation.

I got a good deal at the sportsmans guide on a gortex advantage timber rain jacket that was made by walls. It's quiet and waterproof. That's all I needed.

I know they've got a decient selection to choose from the last catalog I got last week. If you were happy with the goretex and you're not looking for insulated garments it might be worth checking out.

RE: Tell me about your RAIN GEAR!!

David,

I use Cabelas uninsulated Revolution Fleece garments as my rain outfit....the uninsulated pullover and pants in particular. I chose them because Revolution Fleece is very quiet in the woods and does not fade after repeated washings. The downside? It is a little bit thicker than the standard rain garments I see advertised. Cabelas MT050, Rain Suede and ES1 all use thinner layers. Price for the pullover is around $100 depending on size. Pants are around $70, again depending on size. They do offer it in their Outfitter camo which is more of an open pattern like that ASAT you have been wearing.

Hope this helps.
