Congrats!! Your story kinda reminds me of some adventures I went thru myself when I was still a young-un. I myself lost the first deer I ever shot, but unfortunately, after many days search I was not lucky enough to find it. It still saddens me to think about it. The next season, after countless hours of bow practice, I went out and made a double lung shot on a spike at about 17 yards!! Even tho it was just a spike it coulda just as well been a 10 point buck I did not care, it was my first buck!
Hunting kept me outta alot of things when I was your age. While some of the ppl I knew where getting into trouble, I was in the woods. Trust me...It pays off in many more ways than one!! Good Luck on filling your buck tag.

Way to hang in there!! That determination and persistence will carry over into other things in your life as you mature and you will be a better person for it.

Congrats I'm in high school too. This is my first year hunting at all. I can't wait till i get a chance to take one with my bow. But i know that will probably take years. Here in Kansas gun season starts Dec. 1st. so i'm hoping to get a chance with a rifle then.
