thats a neat looking rack, congrats again.

RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Any ideas on measuring inside spread on this buck[:-] ? I'm assuming I'll take it from the inside of the left antler to the inside of the right brow G1 point because the main beam is broken right behind the G1 on his right side.....and I'm assuming I'll only get two circumfrance measurements, one at the base H1 and the second behind the brow on the main but broken beam H2....the left should score well.....
I estimated him at 3.5 yrs and had to take him....read the story if you didn't get a chance to. |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Rob it is the same widest inside spread, with that weird rack it wont be much.BUT I love it ,very different and I like different
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Rob he’s a fantastic buck and unique for sure! Probably hit by a car or something last year.
Inside spread is the furthest measurement from main beam to main beam. Can you call that a main beam or is it the G1? I would say there is no spread measurement. I’m just making conversation and don’t have a clue. |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
The main beam actually comes out behind the G1 on his right side. It appears as if the pedicle was twisted while in velvet so I'm assuming I can get an inside spread from that....it'll be an estimate but I'll be as close as it can possibly be....

That's a neat looking rack, definitely something I'd like to have on my wall. Congrats on the buck Rob, you did your team proud. :D

|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
For sure a great hunt...even with the misses. he, he Congrats.
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Wow that's one of the coolest racks I've seen. Congrats.
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Congratulations on a great buck - he certainly has character!
As for the deformed/damaged rack, I have seen several small bucks this year with one antler abnormal. Kinda weird. Also, seen several during the last few days which have broken one antler off... |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Nice , unique buck Rob. I also noted you painted your gotee "treebark" for camoflage, he he.
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Forget the score...That is an outstanding buck!!! I love that unusual rack!!!
Congratulations!!!! |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Congrats! I really like those freaky looking racks!
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Never saw one quite like that one before! Congrats.
Great character! You still get 4 mass measurements though. Example. If the beam left is 10 inches divide it by 4 (for the spacing to take the mass measurements from.) So then you would take a mass measurement every 2.5 inches. |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
What a cool rack Rob congrats
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Congrat's on your buck Rob, we've seen some real peculiar rack's this season ,but he still count's .congrat's to you and that's a great story as well.

RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
A cool buck indeed Rob....CONGRATS!
I've only ever seen one buck like that in the past, and it was shot by a friend of mine. It had a big 5 on the right and a 14 inch spike on the other....coolest thing I ever saw. Unfortunately though, the taxidermist he had it at; the guy's shop burned down costing a lot of people animals that could never be replaced. A freak accident destroyed a freak headmount....how's that for coincidence???lol |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Thanks everyone, it is unusual but it's also a shame he didn't match his right with his left, especially with that long brow tine on the right.
Antler Eater, I have to score him for the contest otherwise the score thing simply wouldn't matter, he's a neat buck and a 3.5 yr old so I was proud to tag him. Rattlesnake, it's going to be tough getting four H measurements on his right, The main beam out the back is only about 3" long....I'll forfeit two H measurements. Good luck to everyone still hunting, I'm heading out the afternoon with a friend of mine. I'll be camera man and I'm setting him up in my treestands to see what's still out there and see if I should have held out....LOL, I should have been out there this morning cause it's the coldest yet here....I bet the bucks are moving this am.....armed only with a doe tag tho.....I'll let the area rest til this pm with my friend. |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
CONGRADS ,, thats a nice looking buck! Sounds like you had your hands full with that hunt. (Bow down bow up bow down bow up):D;) It drives me crazy when that happens.;)[8D] again CONGRADS!

RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Nice buck Rob. He's got a interesting rack with lots of character.
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Congrats on the nice Buck Rob, nice pic, Matt will be proud:D
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
The size of that deer's head is what really caught my attention. Even in reference to your hand that is holding it up the head looks big. One impressive deer that is for sure.
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Too bad he lost that other side. Still a great buck though.
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Kidd, thanks my friend....as you, Matt and I know, pictures are extremely important and why not do them right.
PABowhntr, your right Frank, I put him at 3.5 yrs old and a huge body. His neck wasn't all that swelled for this time of year. Not like those I've seen in the past but a huge deer none the less. I'm glad I had help draggin his arse out of the muck.....not to mention onto my pickup....he was heavy.:) HuntingBry, I know...his left measured at 52 2/8's so if his right would have matched, I'm betting his right would have been bigger according to his brow but anyway matched set with a modest 16" spread would have put him in the 120's......still a trophy.. I'm thinking skull mount. |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
congrats, way to take it out of the gene pool
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Seems like he would have scored more rob!!! Still an awesome deer!
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
awesome buck, and great story. congrats. Good thing you had plenty of arrows huh. :D
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Way to go Rob, Antler Eater told me about him so I just had to see him for myself. Skull mount would be awesome on a critter like that. Good luck on that doe tag.
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
huge brows... nice
|
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Thanks guys and I made the right decision on taking him as far as a decent mature deer for the season. A friend of mine came in and hunted with me Thur-Sat and although we saw bucks and does and one coyote, nothing came in range. He did however take his first ever turkey when we took a break Thurs at noon and we headed out to a turkey hotspot with the Mossberg...he was excited about that but no deer feel to his bow. It was a great week.

RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Cool buck Roberto!.......
Did you have any sightings of that big wide one from last year? |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Matt, that wide 10 pt from last year never showed himself and neither did the two 2.5 yr old nice 8's I had on game camera.....there is alot of corn still standing and I contribute that to where most of the deer still were hiding....outlook for next year is going to be outstanding as I know as wet as it is, the corn won't be cut for rifle season and it should give the bucks another year of growth......I'm already planning next years archery season now.

RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Rob, your right, that's a very unique looking rack for sure!! Congrats bud on a unusal trophy!!;)

Rob,
That is one unique looking buck, congrats on a fine harvest. Troy |
RE: Pictures of PA buck down for team 18.
Maytom, thanks my friend. Yup, unusual and I think he'll make a unique skull mount.
Shed33, thank you as well. |
