ribs

Would an arrow pass through the ribs? or do you have to shoot where the ribs aren't? Now that i think about it there is a diagram of a deers vitals somewhere on this site, i'm going to go check it out now. but still answer my question if you can, thanks

RE: ribs

The ribs cover the "vitals". So the answer is yes, you shoot them through the ribs to hit the lungs/heart etc...

If your shooting lighter setup you will still blow through a rib. If you happen to hit one square on the entrance and square on the exit you may not passthrough but it will do just as much damage.

I think a lot of times the broadhead rolls off the rib. Ive busted ribs and shot between them. Sure cant aim between a rib . Lungs and heart are hard enough.

my first rack buck I killed this year at 12 yds. and it would have passed completely through had it not hit a rib on the opposite side. I used a muzzy 4 blade 125.;)

I though we were talking eats here! I just finished off a rack of ribs donated to me by ms. hog. Ummm. ribs...

If you smack a deer in the ribs you will surely get to the goodies. I always inspect the wound channel left by my arrow and desrtoying a rib on each side is normal. Deer ribs are pretty light weight bones when compaired to those of cattle and hogs.

Saw first hand the damage a Muzzy 3 blade 125gr head did to a shoulder... busted right through and out the other side (through the ribs).

If you don't hit a shoulder, you will just blow through ribs!
